She’s all about making fashion more accessible and de-stigmatising medical devices by turning them into fashion must-haves. (Are you obsessed with her already? Because we are). We sat down with her to chat goals, inspo, and how she styles her #adidas Tokyos in a way that is uniquely her! ❤️
How did the idea come about for By Destiny Pinto?
‘After my own experience of having rheumatoid arthritis, I would use a compression glove to help with swelling. Around the same time, my best friend started wearing an ostomy bag. These medical devices are very clinical looking, so I started designing a cooler cover for the glove and ostomy bag that would make us feel more like us. I realised after sharing my designs, there is a community of people looking for this exact thing to help them take control over their chronic conditions.'
This dream hasn’t come without challenge, Destiny tells us about her side quest around the world to find a manufacturer, who can bring her designs to life.
‘It’s tough finding a manufacturer who can produce something that hasn't necessarily existed before’
In collaboration with Vogue and BMW, Destiny recently created a bespoke hearing aid inspired by automotive design. This has sparked dreams of expanding her business to tap into even more industries including tech. Gotta love a woman in STEM 🥽💅🏼
“I’m always working digitally, on my IPAD, it would be sick to take that a step further and work with more tech companies like Apple or Google. I just love combining all different worlds”
