Next up to take the OFFICE Spotlight™ stage is adidas – which is on the feet of every cool girl ATM. Literally. This initiative is all about shining light on our ever-growing community and delving deeper into their lives .
We put the spotlight on two inspiring galz… Navi Ahluwalia & Poppy Almond.
Navi Ahluwalia a London based writer, trend enthusiast & mentor. We are super inspired by Navi’s career journey & her determination to achieve everything she wants.
Navi is a certified adidas Gazelle girlie…
“I love the adidas Gazelle silhouette at the moment, I’m wearing it a lot. It goes with everything in my wardrobe.”
Just when you thought the Gazelle couldn’t step up its profile more, adidas level up with this new elevated design. The Gazelle Bold features a cool layered sole in gum or white – these show stopping trainers are not to be missed.
We caught up with Navi to delve a little bit deeper into her life…
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
“I’m Navi, I am the UK editor of Hypebae which is an online publication that kind of centres around fashion and streetwear. But with a female lens, and I’m also a mentor.”
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned in your career so far?
“The biggest lesson I’ve learned in my career is that you have to put yourself out there. You can’t be afraid to kind of shout about the things you’ve been doing and what you’re working on and what you want to do in the future. Because things don’t really just come to you. You kind of have to go and get them.”
What tips would you give for working in an ever-changing environment?
“The tips I would give for working in an ever-changing environment are to kind of learn how to be reactive and know that it’s a skill that will kind of benefit you no matter what you go on to do.”
What advice would you give to an emerging creative that wants to be successful in the industry and make it into a business?
“The advice that I would give to an emerging creative is just to put yourself out there as much as you can, the more people that you know in the industry, the better and the more people that are aware of what you want to do, the easier that it’ll be.”
Describe your personal style?
“I don’t really know how I would describe my personal style I feel like its still changing, I know it’s very comfort orientated, I wear a lot of baggy clothes but I think it’s just kind of – it changes depending on the situation.”
How are you styling the adidas Gazelle Bold?
“I’m styling the adidas Gazelle Bold with baggy jeans, crop tops, cargo skirts and big sweatshirts.”
Your favourite pieces in your wardrobe that have on rotation?
“The piece that I have on rotation at the moment is a leather pink bomber jacket, it’s a really fun statement piece and I can just kind of throw it on with anything and it always looks good”.
What do you find most inspiring about fashion culture at the moment?
“It’s really about wearing whatever you want no matter what your body type is. I feel like there are a lot of trends that some people think might be for one kind of body but I think at the moment, everyone is wearing everything. It’s really just about being comfortable in your own skin.”
How important is it that you keep up with fashion for your job?
“Keeping up with fashion in my job is kind of the most important thing, if not one of. It underpins everything I do from helping to analyse trends to speaking to people who are innovating in the space. Also, being able to go to runways shows and review collections, I have a view on the context of where things are coming from and how that might inform how people dress in the future.”

What’s next for you in 2023?
“I think it’s honestly just taking a bit more of a break, it’s not something I’ve been very good at doing the last couple of months, so I think just kind of being a little bit more stricter with myself and making sure that there’s a balance in everything that I’m doing.”
What are some of your favourite memories/ achievements this year?
“This year my favourite memory or achievement I guess would probably be going to Paris Fashion Week for the first time. It was very challenging and I learned a lot about myself and about the industry but I think I had some experiences there and I never really thought that I would have so that definitely stands out for me.”
Tell us something you do outside of your day job?
“Outside of my day job I’m also a mentor, I’m currently mentoring a group of young South Asian women who are trying to get into the journalism industry. We meet every couple of weeks and I’ve been helping them sort out their CV’s, find opportunities and also just like on a wider level help to build their self-confidence and just give them a bit of insight into my experience and my career journey and how that’s gone.”

Who would you nominate for OFFICE Spotlight?
“The person that I’d nominate for OFFICE Spotlight is my friend Tilly Palmer, she runs an accessories brand called Tied Up and she makes incredible scrunchies so I think it would be a lot of fun.”
What are you having for dinner hun?
“I think I’m having spaghetti bolognese, it’s a comfort meal and its been a really busy week so it’s kind of a go to”.
