Scroll down to find out more.

Poppy Almond [@poppyalmond] is a Leeds based content creator, freelance illustrator, freelance designer and has a knack for ceramics. We love Poppy’s fun tomboy-esque styling and we are obsessed with the pops of colour she adds to her fits’. 💙

As a true adidas wearer, we thought we would introduce a HOT new silhouette to her rotation.

The adidas Gazelle Bold is a classic in its own right, BUT has a 2022 edge. The layered sole and mix of colourways make for a lust worthy addition to anyone’s adidas collection.

Tell us a little bit about yourself?

“Hi, I’m Poppy, I’m a freelance illustrator and content creator based in Leeds. I do social media work and also have a business doing illustration AND I’ve just launched a range of ceramics.”

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned as a freelancer thus far?

“I think the biggest lesson I’ve learnt is that I’m not very good at finances, invoices and everything just gets to0 the last minute. I’ve also learnt that people are not very good at paying invoices… creative people are just not very good with money.”

How to approach the uncertainty of freelancing?

“I’ve learnt to be quite good with budgeting, I’ve also become quite a good saver, so I always make sure that I’ve got money left over theres a few months without work or anything.”

What advice would you give to an emerging creative who wants to be successful in the industry and make a business out of it?

“I think, be prepared to spend all of your time working and thinking about work when you’re starting out. Also networking is really important both online and in real life – going to events and socialising with other people in the industry.”

Describe your personal style?

“I think my personal style is quite fun, quite girly but with a hint of masculine and tomboy.”

How are you styling the adidas Gazelle Bold this season?

“Today I’m wearing it with a skirt and an oversized shirt. I feel like when the winter months come, I’m going to wear a big oversized sweater as well.”

Your favourite pieces in your wardrobe that you have on rotation?

“I have a long tartan skirt which I just wear like most days. But I feel like it would look really good with the adidas as well.”

What do you find most inspiring about fashion culture at the moment?

“I feel like a lot of people are shopping vintage, incorporating vintage into your personal style is really nice because you get a lot of different pieces – more unique style.”

Keeping up with fashion, how important is it for your work?

“I think it’s important to keep on top of trends and what’s in fashion at the minute. I think it’s also important to stay true to my own style and not just go with trends that I don’t think are true to me”.

What’s next for you in 2023?

“So next for in 2023, I think I’m still going to be doing a lot of my freelance social media things but also focussing on my art career and my ceramics a lot more in 2023, I hope.”

What are some of your favourite memories/ achievements this year?

“I think one of my best achievements this year is my ceramic collection with Damson Madder because thats the first time I’ve collaborated with my art and not just like fashion things.”

Who would you nominate for the OFFICE Spotlight?

“I would nominate one of my good friends actually Jodie Reynold she runs a shop called House of Jay, she makes the most amazing rugs and mirrors. She’s just killing it.”

What are you having for dinner hun?

“I’m going for dinner tonight at Mortimer house so I don’t know what I’ll be having. Hopefully something nice.”
