Pumpkin season is here, and as the nights draw in closer, we’re in need of a little pick-me-up as much as you are. To save trips out, and on the pennies, we’re whipping up a season-change essential – the ‘Pumpkin Spiced Latte’ – at home.
Milk (Or dairy-free alternative – we love Almond with this one – we use 1/3 cup)
Pumpkin Spices (Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Ginger, Allspice/Cloves (1/2 teaspoon each, or to taste))
Vanilla Extract (Strength to taste – we use a couple of drops tops – and use the ‘posh’ kind of extract for better flavour)
Coffee (Strength to taste – we use half a cup)
Sugar (Strength to taste – we do 2/3 teaspoons)
Whipped Cream on top (Or dairy-free alternative, optional)
Pop your milk on the hob (or in the microwave – but keep an eye on it – 30 seconds tops) and slowly heat, stirring in your seasonal spices, and add a couple of drops of Vanilla Extract.
Brew your coffee in your mug, and you can either begin to froth your milk with a hand-frother or machine to achieve desired froth levels. Pour the frothy spiced milk over your coffee, carefully stirring in sugar to taste.
Optional (but recommended) – whipped cream for on the top, followed by a sprinkle of cinnamon & nutmeg.
Serve immediately, and with homemade (or ‘homemade’) cake of choice.
Relax, put your feet up, save some pennies…and enjoy!
