While we bit farewell to what is left of the summer holidays, there is one thing we can get a bit excited about and that’s our new AW15 wardrobe. Its a shame that the weather will be cold but it gives an easy excuse to wear more layers and fully show off our new looks for the season.
New York is a huge fashion reference this Autumn and we thought we would give you a sneak peak at another trend you will be seeing on the streets very soon. Moving away from the downtown grungy style that we looked at previously, this trend takes us uptown to the Upper East Side. Time to rewatch Cruel Intentions, Gossip Girl and Devil Wears Prada and uses as a key style influence for this look.
It is a bit prissy and girlie with an edge of Seventies, Studio 54 glamour. The skirts are high waisted and A line, the trousers are flared and the tops are draped and feminine.
Footwear definitely nods to the 70’s with detailed loafers, slim, block heeled knee boots and platform Mary Janes. The colour palette is a lot of earthy browns and tans mixed with black, burgundy, cream and dusky pink. Fabrics for this trend are suede, corduroy, thick knit and leather and the footwear will see elements of moc croc, pony effect and embossed leather.
The great thing about this trend is that you can use elements of your summer wardrobe and rework them for Autumn. The Seventies was a huge hit this summer and we all have a suede skirt or boho blouse that we can style with thick tights and some knee boots on colder days. The look is smarter and less hippie chick but the foundations are already there from this season to take you through until next. Often its the shoes and the accessories that make the difference and help transition your look.
