The latest Timberland exclusives have finally launched. The newest collection focuses upon premuim leathers, attention detail and represents key trends for the season. We get to chat to Aman Tak, the talented designer behind this desirable collection.

In designing your latest Timberland exclusives, what were the main points of inspiration?

We developed a new exclusive boot with Timberland which was more refined, sleek and feminine in comparison to their regular 6inch boot which has a chunkier aesthetic. Therefore I wanted the design to reflect this.

This boot has a real premium look and feel about it so I wanted to create something that still maintained these values but was different to what is currently out in the market, at the same time being trend relevant and respectful to the brand.

We couldn’t ignore the “over branding” trend which has been used frequently on apparel so we developed a pack using the timberland logo repeating print on the upper as well as a more subtle option with the branding hit on the heel and laces.

The metallic rand pack was also a new development with Timberland, this is exclusive to us which gives the shoe a more sleek styling, taking it away from its usual rugged look.

Can you talk us through the start to finish process in designing exclusives?

The aim is to create a point of difference from what we are buying from the main range, building something more bespoke and tailored towards our specific customers taste and ensuring it is trend relevant. This can come through materials/applications we apply or quite simply the colours we predict are coming through and use.

The simplistic version of the process would be me briefing the brand with my cads, a sample is created and the shoe is delivered. But between that it’s about going through materials and working closely with the brands design team to create the final product.

If you could sum up the various collections in three words what would it be?

Fun, classic and premium.

What would you like to highlight about your latest collection?

I think we were able to create a collection of shoes that appeals to a wide range of consumers. If your looking for this seasons trend colour, something a bit more premium or want that little bit extra, we have something for everyone. The beauty of these packs is that they offering something from Timberland that you wouldn’t necessarily see from them.

Lastly, what do your love about Timberland?

The beauty of the brand is that it spans across various subcultures, consumer and genres. Whether your in to fashion, music or the great outdoors, Timberland has something for you with every pair telling a personally story.
