As the whirlwind of men’s fashion weeks drew to a close, the rising stars of British menswear Agi & Sam, came together with UGG® Australia, and the likes of GQ, Tank and Men’s Health, for a celebratory dinner and some Old Fashioned’s.
For the first time UGG footwear featured on the catwalk of London Collections: Men, as the brand of choice to perfectly compliment the ethos behind this unique design duo. Agi explains why the collaboration with UGG, a brand that was born on the beach amongst a surfing culture, was an exciting project; “I grew up surfing – my dad surfed – and it’s really nice to work with a brand that has that heritage. It’s nice to combine personalities and see what happens.”
With emphasis on bespoke print and humour, Agi & Sam’s design work earned them the title of Emerging Menswear Designers at the British Fashion Awards just days before their LC:M show (not the first of their accolades..!) For Autumn/Winter ’14 they presented a deeply personal collection titled “Watu Nguvu”- People Power in Swahili. They looked to their roots for inspiration, combining the traditions of African clothing with contemporary tailoring.
Both UGG Australia and Agi & Sam are faithful to their heritage, and committed to the highest standard of craftsmanship and quality in their product. It goes without saying that the outcome on the catwalk was a winning one. “It worked really well with the collection,” says Sam.
This SS14 the designers have joined the UGG Creative Council, a group of inspirational individuals who come together to foster the creative spirit behind the brand, and who you’ll be seeing much more of as the season progresses. Watch this space!
