The 70’s Platform Heel

Wednesday, August 26th, 2015

A trend that has carried over from Summer is the return of the sassy Seventies.

This summer we saw lots of boho blouses, peasant dresses, tassels and ghille lace up gladiator sandals, but this Autumn the trend has taken on more of a Studio 54 vibe.

Smarter and sophisticated this 70’s update will see a huge focus on possibly the most famous footwear from the era, the platform heel. Whether its a boot, a sandal or a wedge, the platform heel is a definite must for the Autumn season.

70s trend

We have selected some of favourite new in styles to get you ready for the injection of Autumnal colours into your wardrobe and to keep you towering above everyone.

Platforms are generally the more comfortable heel shape as even though you are pretty high up, your foot is slightly more balanced with the addition of a platform sole. If you really want to elongate your legs and stand tall then the Twin platform heel in patent moc croc leather and the Taller Super Wedge in burnt orange suede are your go to styles. Wear with straight leg ankle grazer jeans and a tight high neck tee or jumper.

Keep things a little lower with the Vagabond Tyra ankle boot or Question Loafer and pair with a cute pinafore dress and long sleeved stripy tee.

If you want a true nod to the glam 70’s, the high leg Indigo ankle boot and Tilly Platform sandal in leopard pony will look fab with some ankle flared blue jeans and a tied up flannel shirt.

OFFICE at LFW 2013: Spotted!

Wednesday, September 25th, 2013

Despite the rain, the OFFICE team hit day one of London Fashion Week to catch the fashion buzz at Somerset House! Who said a brolly couldn’t be trendy…

Think: socks and sandals, pops of bright colours and chunky sandals. Get the look here; with quirky street style inspiration and your essential OFFICE shoe fix.

Here we take a look at what the fashionistas were wearing to London Fashion week and show you how to re create their looks with a helping hand from an OFFICE shoe or two!

Experiment with materials this season. Contrast girly shapes and shades with biker leather materials. Try an oversized clutch and a leather shine skirt with our Silver ‘On Top’ courts for a current look.

Masculine tailored suits, teamed with feminine ankle strap heels. Try a Cobalt Blue suit with a leopard print bag and Red ‘Obey Me’ sandals to stand out this winter.

Team an over the shoulder leather jacket, with feathers and tutus to bring a biker feel to the perfect girly look. Our ‘Onestep’ style with studs is ideal for this look.

This season, girly meets grunge. Contrast your brightest colours with a dark palette for an effortless look. Fashion has gone back to comfort with messy buns and shift dresses. Steal your boyfriend’s blazer for that desired oversized look and team it with that love/hate socks & sandals trick, with bright colours and OFFICE’s chunky, buckled ‘Ruffio’.

There were a few faces we recognised hanging out at LFW as well who also happened to be wearing a pair of our OFFICE shoes. True to form we couldn’t resist taking a snap or two!

Jade Mazzard straight from the Bora Asku catwalk, wearing our sold out ‘Undoing’. Bring attention to your boots with a simple outfit and dark tones.

Team a classic leather jacket with our lovely buckle up ‘Domino Strap’ boot for ultimate simplicity. Bring a touch of colour to your grunge look with a bright coral or red lippy.

Brighten up our ‘Rule It’ chunky, cut out platforms and experiment with bright pops of colour and a statement necklace. Less is more, with simple shapes and dark leather shorts.

Try our patent ‘Opal’ for an up to date fashion forward look. Team with a camel coat and chiffon materials. A perfect Burgundy coloured ‘Opal’ will be your best friend this winter.

Our second instalment from hair and make-up duo, the Technicolour twins, is here. This time, Danielle talks us through the steps to recreate our favourite make up look from the High Summer look book shoot; Sixties Siren.

Step 1
Prepping your skin before applying make-up is just as, if not more, important than the application itself. To do this, begin by exfoliating the skin using Age-Defying Exfoliating Pads. Then cleanse using a Hydrating Cleanser. Both of the products I use are by Radical.

Step 2

Apply BB (Beauty Balm) cream for radiant coverage and healthy, natural glow. There are lots of great BB creams available but my favourite is YSL’s Top Secrets BB Cream, complete with essential SPF20 protection.

Step 3

This look is all about the eyes. Apply a heavy line of black, kohl pencil eyeliner across the top of the eyelid following your lash line and finish with feline flicks from the outside corners. I recommend NARS Larger than Life Long-Wear pencil in colour ‘Via Veneto’, it won’t smudge or budge all day.

Using the same pencil, apply liner on the inside of the bottom lashes. Finish off the eyes with three coats of black mascara, my favourite is Larger than Life Lengthiness by NARS.

Step 4

Next, define your brows. Follow your natural brow shape using a shadow rather than a pencil as this is great for a fuller, more masculine brow. I recommend Laura Mercier Brow Powder Duo.

Step 5

As the eyes are the focus for this look, it’s important to keep the lip looking subtle, soft and feminine. Finish the Sixties Siren by using a pale creamy lip colour. Try MAC lipstick in ‘Pure Zen’.

Technicolour twins, Nicole and Danielle Kahlani, are a hair and make-up twosome making waves within the fashion industry with their individual style and unique sisterly bond.

Hair stylist Nicole works at the cult East London salon, Bleach (the salon that kicked off the dip-dye and experimental hair colouring) and Danielle is a make-up artist who credits 7 years of hard work and self-belief as the key to her success.

Here, they talk us through their steps to create two of our favourite hair and make-up looks from our High Summer look book shoot.

First up, a tutorial on how to recreate our Mermaid Manes look by Nicole.

Step 1
Spray your hair with water to make it damp.

Step 2
Sprits salt spray all over your hair and brush through. This will give your hair a straight-from-the-beach look and works especially well at giving fine hair a bit of body. I recommend the beauty cult favourite; Surf Spray from Bumble and Bumble.

Step 3

Starting from the back, take small sections of hair and twist downwards. Use thickening spray on each twist.

Step 4
Use a diffuser nozzle on your hairdryer, at medium speed and on the maximum heat. Once the hair is almost dry, switch between hot and cold air – this will stop the hair becoming frizzy.

Step 5

Finish the look by creating the waves using your straighteners. To do this, move your hand in a zig-zag pattern along sections of hair. The end result – a natural, low maintenance wave.

How about you team your new style with…

LFW Feb 2013; Round Up

Friday, February 22nd, 2013

As London Fashion Week draws to a close we’re reminiscing here at HQ about what a brilliant week it’s been. We started out the week on a style hunting mission and came across a number of our very own styles being worn by the crème de la crème of the fashion World. We even made a facebook gallery of all the hot fashionistas we bumped into wearing them. Check it out here.

As the weekend approached we had our HQ girls down at Somerset House checking out some shows of their own. See our buyers blog on their day at London Fashion Week here. The lovely Jodie Nellist, fashion editor at Marie Claire also gave us  her diary of what she got up to over LFW. An insight to the glamorous life of a magazine editor is exactly what we hoped it would be! You can see Jodie’s diary here.

OFFICE was also a hot topic at Grazia HQ with a lot of the girls showcasing their outfits and incorporating some of our fab designs into them on their visits to LFW. Head to the Grazia site to check out their gallery and keep an eye out for an OFFICE shoe or two!

Lastly, London Fashion Week wouldn’t be complete without a celebrity or two. We spotted Mollie King in our Side Step high heel, VV Brown wearing the Feelin It white wedge and last but not least Laura Whitmore wearing the ultra chic Uplifted wedge while out and about on her Fashion Week binge!

We had a great time at London Fashion Week , the designers were amazing the models were fantastic and the street style and fashion of those who attended was everything we hoped it would be! So, we say bring on AW13! We can’t wait to see the new trends we spotted this month coming alive on the high street in autumn.

The Must Have This Winter

Tuesday, November 27th, 2012

Don’t shy away your sandals just because winter has arrived. In fact, they’re back as a fashion staple this season! Teaming socks with sandals such as the ‘Over the Top Wedge’ and other open toe heels, you can be at the centre of fashion this Christmas. Cute frills, fishnet, knee high or graphic prints are our favourite ways to pimp up our pins.

We like to wear ours with tailored shorts and a sheer blouse with an embellished collar or maybe even with a dark coloured circle cut skirt with a neon knit jumper and a chunky bejewelled necklace. Or quite simply with leggings and an oversized baggy jumper. All with the highest of statement heels of course.

How will you wear yours? Show us how you get on by tweeting us @officeShoes #OfficeMe.
