Lovebox 2014 #OFFICEFestStyle

Monday, July 21st, 2014

This weekend some of our OFFICE HQ guys and girls were lucky enough to go along to Lovebox for 2 days of amazing music and got some great snaps of all the fun!

With temperatures soaring to 32 degrees centigrade on Friday and Saturday it felt more like LA than London and everyone’s clothing and footwear definitely reflected this. T-shirts, shorts, crop tops and bikinis were everywhere and sandals, trainers and jelly shoes were the main footwear of choice, with a few in wellies (they clearly didn’t check the weather!)

This humble East London festival has almost doubled in size from last year with 2 huge stages, a Big Top and lots of sponsored stages from the likes of Red Bull, Aperol Spritz and Distrkt. Dotted around the site were giant flowers, trees covered in pom poms, fairground rides and a huge makeshift Manor House where most of the big DJs spent their time on the balcony.

The highlights of Friday were ASAP Rocky, DJ EZ and Chase and Status who closed the first day with an incredible set that had the crowds going crazy. It may of helped that a huge electrical storm hit as they came on, so in-between lasers and lightening strikes the visuals and atmosphere were incredible.

Saturday had a lot of house DJs and was a bit more chilled with the favourites being Canadian songstress Banks and legendary rapper Nas cracking out some 90′s hip hop classics. MIA closed the festival with a spectacular light show as the entire crowd had handfuls of glow-sticks, but unfortunately her set was cut short due to a power cut which didn’t go down too well with the hyped up crowd.

All in all in was a fantastic festival and we are lucky to have it on our doorstep at OFFICE HQ so we will definitely be back again next year!!

Power Points: How to Style

Friday, July 18th, 2014

A pointed toe is one of this season’s hottest shoe trends. Seen gracing the catwalks of SS14, the classic pointed silhouette is one of the most popular heels of choice this summer. Great for lengthening legs, slipping on a pair of points not only elongates your pins making legs look slender, it also adds a sleek and sophisticated feel to just about any outfit.

Team a pointed pump with a pair of vintage light washed boyfriend jeans for a feminine take on a casual look . Alternatively style a classic pointed stiletto heel with a pair of tailored shorts or cropped cigarette trousers – taking you from the boardroom to the bar!

Jelly Tots

Wednesday, June 4th, 2014

There is one thing in OFFICE HQ that is guaranteed to get all the girls squealing with cuteness overload and that is the tiny mini me shoes from JuJu. With the 90′s favourite summer shoe dominating this seasons wardrobe, the little ones are as fashion forward as we are with their matching pairs.

Most of us will remember wearing a pair of jellies to go splashing in the sea, in the times we were also forced to wear a t-shirt over our swimming costume, complete with one of those super chic hats with a back flap. Who knew that kids these days would be making a fashion statement stepping out in some pastel jellies with some cute frilly socks to match their mums.

Kids-Juju

What could be more fun than dressing your little one like a teeny version of you. JuJu jellies are a British summer classic and with a variety of scrummy ice cream colours they will look beyond adorable on you and your little one’s dinky feet.

Hot holiday picks

Tuesday, May 6th, 2014

It’s not long now until we’ll be jetting off on our summer jollies so our talk has turned to which shoes will be making the cut.

From city breaks to sun, sea and sand, we’ve picked the hottest styles that deserve a place in your suitcase this summer…

Jelly shoes

Jelly shoes were a staple of beach holidays when we were kids and they’re made a come back this summer in a selection of new shapes and shades.

JuJu makes the original jelly shoes and its range of classic styles are perfect for paddling on the beach. Updated for the new season in pastel colours, they are a must-have for all beach go-ers. Our favourites are the black and white Babe Hi JuJu Jelly and the exclusive coral Maxi Low JuJu Jelly.

Wedges

Walk tall in a pair of versatile summer wedges. Team them with everything from skirts and maxi dresses to skinny jeans and swimwear, they’re the ultimate in sunset glamour! Plus, there’ll be no sinking into the sand when you take that moonlight stroll on the beach.

For a real summery spin on wedges, we love espadrille styles like this Gaimo pair in blue suede. If you’ve only got space in your suitcase for one pair, we’d suggest these Dark Horse wedges. The leopard print will go with everything, they’re comfy for walking around in and they’ll take you from day to night with ease.

Espadrilles

If you’re looking for cool, comfy shoes which you can wear every day of your holiday then you need to pick up a pair of espadrilles.

Toms’ Classic Slip Ons are a favourite and are perfect for lazy days on the beach and sightseeing. The best bit? They’re available in a wide range of colours and patterns. We love the crochet pair, or why not tap into the summer trend for florals with a ditsy-print pair?

If you’re on a budget, our Office flat espadrilles are just £10 for two pairs and are available in some of this season’s hottest pastel shades. We’ll take a pair in every colour please.

Sandals

It wouldn’t be a proper holiday if we didn’t snap up a new pair of sandals (or two or three…). Flip flops, strappy slip-ons, gladiators; we love them all.

But this season it’s the classic footbed sandal that has truly stolen our hearts. Every celeb worth their salt has been spotted in a pair of casual, comfy Birkenstocks recently and we plan to try out the trend too.

The only question is whether we should opt for a cool metallic pair, classic black, or something bright and bold? Or maybe all three?

Our summer beauty essentials

Wednesday, April 30th, 2014

Summer’s on its way so feel tip top with our guide to the best summer beauty essentials.

MakeupCompPastel nail colours

There’s no quicker way to update your look than with a slick of new nail polish. Our favourites come in sugary shades this season, think Topshop’s ‘Boy Next Door’ or Ciate’s ‘Suncatcher’.

Surf Spray
Creating the perfect tousled waves has never been easier. You’ll look like a beach babe in no time with Bumble & Bumble’s Surf Spray or go DIY and make your own. Here’s our recipe for the best homemade surf spray:

- One cup of hot water
- Add two tablespoons of Epsom salts
- Half a tablespoon of conditioner
- Add a few drops of scented oils
- Spray it onto wet or dry hair and voila!

Hair colours
Adding colour to your look isn’t just about your clothes. We’ve fallen head over heels for Bleach London’s new range of hair dyes in Awkward Peach, Washed Up Mermaid and Bruised Violet. For something a little less permanent, try Colorsmash’s hair chalk. It can be applied in minutes and simply washes out!

Fake tan
A little fake tan on our legs is a summer essential in our eyes. Get your pins looking tanned and toned with St Tropez’s Perfect Leg Spray, or try Dove’s Summer Glow moisturiser for a natural-looking tan all year round.

Foot scrub
Before you try on your new sandals, treat your feet to a luxurious foot bath. Lush makes our favourite – the Volcano Foot Mask – and it’s a great way to kick back and relax at the end of a long day.

Drink water!
Water is nature’s own anti-aging treatment so eight glasses a day keeps us feeling happy and healthy. We’re loving Bobble’s water bottles that filter your tap water as you drink it. What’s more, they’re reusable so they’re a great way to reduce the number of plastic bottles going to waste and harming the environment. Drink up!

Waterproof mascara
Whether you’re dipping in and out of the pool or strolling through the city on a hot day, waterproof mascara is a must. Blow the budget with Diorshow’s version or up the volume with Bourjois Paris’ Glamour Max waterproof mascara. Either way, say goodbye to panda eyes forever.

Highlighter
Get ready to glow everyday with our favourite highlighting blushers and creams. Our first choice is Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Brick which will give you an instant glow with a simply swish of it over your cheeks and eyelids. Our other favourites to note are Topshop’s Glow highligher in Gleam and Nars’ Illuminator in Hot Sand.

Perfect in pastels

Thursday, April 24th, 2014

This season, the catwalks were awash with sugary pastel shades and ice-cream colours.

Antonio Berardi, Burberry Prorsum and Jason Wu were just a few of the brands to champion the trend and it looks set to be the summer’s biggest fashion story.

Read on to discover our favourite ways to work the look…

paloma

Accessorise, accessorise, accessorise

If you’re not sure pastels are your thing, dip your toe in the water by adding some pastel accessories to your summer wardrobe. Nude shoes like these patent loafers are sure to put a spring in your step and will look great with jeans. If you’re already thinking about holiday buys, these pale pink wedge JuJus will work just as well on the beach as they will during the evenings.

Add some edge

Pastels don’t have to be pretty; they can be edgy if mixed with the right materials. Rita Ora teamed her powder blue shearling gilet with a black leather jacket and shorts during a recent trip to New York, while Emma Watson’s shimmering metallic pink skirt at the Tribeca Film Festival was more in keeping with her Bling Ring character than Hermione Granger. We say, toughen up the trend with leather or denim in pale pastel shades.

Return to retro

A pastel palette lends itself perfectly to retro styles. Take note of Paloma Faith’s outfit at the Burberry show with a sleek pencil skirt and fitted blouse. We love the addition of her blue overcoat and metallic shoes.

Go all out

As Paloma’s ensemble shows, sometimes the best way to wear pastels is just to go all out. Clash your shades, such as lemon yellow and baby blue, to create a statement look with added sweetness. What’s more, a little extra sugar now and again won’t hurt.
