Pretty Pointed Flats

Wednesday, July 29th, 2015

This summer we have been loving the pointed flat and its fast becoming a smart wardrobe must have that transcends the seasons.

Its fair to say that so far this British “summer” hasn’t been all its cracked up to be and we seem to have had more cold wet weather than blistering sunny days. We are still super excited when we get to wear our sandals but we all need a statement flat that can be worn whatever the weather and the pointed flat is our fave.

Not only does it elongate your pins when worn with a skirt or dress but its an easy way to dress up some boyfriend jeans and a logo tee.

PrettyPoints

The pointed flat has that Parisian appeal that makes it appear simple but look premium and is an effortless chic style that will take you through until Autumn.

We all have a summer wardrobe and a winter wardrobe but there are those few capsule items that every girl needs for those inbetween days and the pointed flat is definitely one.

We Love The Midi Heel

Friday, July 24th, 2015

This season we are loving the ultimate city heel, the midi. This not-so-high heel has become our go to style when shopping, out with friends for dinner or for occasions when we know we are going to be on our feet all day.

Obviously we still have a big place in our hearts for our trusty skyscraper heels but this summer we can’t get enough of the sensible Midi.

MidiHeels

Our new collection of mid heels cover all the trends this season, with some girly Ghillie lace ups, 70’s style platforms and Kardashian inspired shoeboots.

These heels are perfect for the tall girl who doesn’t like to tower above their friends and also great for the petite girl who loves a little bit of height for everyday.

Dress up some Quincy points with some cigarette pants and a loose fitting white shirt, an ideal look for work and meetings. Wear some leopard print Queen sandals or Quartet ghillie lace up wedge with some ripped straight-leg jeans and an oversized tee.

The great thing about the mid heel is that its super easy to wear and style. It doesn’t have to look too dressy but at the same time can if needed, its a heel that every girl needs to have.

Lovebox 2015

Thursday, July 23rd, 2015

Last weekend we attended the amazing Lovebox festival in Victoria Park, Hackney, London. The sun was shining and the atmosphere was pumping, we were fully in the festival mood and ready to dance the day away.

IMG_7460

The usual East London scene were there and there were beards and multicoloured hair a plenty. With a wide variety of music acts playing throughout the day, it was clear to see who came to see what,. From the dance loving guys and girls in patterned co-ords and trainers, to the hip- hop fanatics in heavy branded apparel, the crowd was the perfect mix of the London crowd.

Whilst on our walks round the festival we nabbed a bit of street style to see what was everyone’s fave festival footwear. We saw plenty of classic Vans rocked with jeans, dresses and skate socks and shorts. The easy to wear Authentic and Slip On are the ideal festival companion for a long day on your feet and plus they look great with pretty much anything.  The girls were also loving the summer must have sandal, the ghillie lace up, which perfectly complimented their boho festival style.

Before the festival we ran a competition with Vans to win a pair of tickets and the lucky winner was @SallyTraffic, who looked like she was having a fab time listening to Jessie Ware on the mainstage.

We had a great day at this year’s Lovebox festival and we cannot wait for next year.

Nike Cortez | How to Wear

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2015

This year has seen the revival of some classic trainers and the girls especially have loved pairing them with smarter looks for a chic sports luxe style.

This season sees the return of the much loved Nike Cortez, made famous for its link to the Oscar winning film Forrest Gump. Of course these days we are less likely to run in the Cortez but instead we pair this streamline trainer with some of our favourite trends.

hwtowear

Just by glancing at street style it is clear to see that sportswear and logos are dominating the fashion world and people aren’t afraid to dress trainers up or down.

Wear your Cortez with jeans or denim cut off shorts for dress down weekends or smarten up with a full A line skirt or some tailored black trousers for work and parties. This slim silhouette is easy to wear and is a must-have addition to your wardrobe for the season ahead.

Taylor Swift @ BST Hyde Park

Monday, June 29th, 2015

On Saturday 27th we had the pleasure of attending the Barclays British Summertime Festival in Hyde Park, headlined by pop princess Taylor Swift.

Support acts included John Newman, Ellie Goulding, Vance Joy and Rae Morris who all took to the Great Oak stage and got the crowds dancing in the sunshine.

When Taylor came on stage earlier than scheduled, the crowd went wild. With fans ranging from 6 year olds to grandparents, she proved her worth as the ultimate pop star. Performing some of her classic hits like, I Knew You Were Trouble, Shake it Off and Bad Blood, the singer managed to schedule in many costume changes surrounded by a fantastic all-male dance troupe.

The highlight of the evening came whilst she was performing her hit Style, in which she welcomed onto stage her ultimate girl squad, which included Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Martha Hunt, Serena Williams and of course Cara Delevingne who waved the British Flag.

Mega fans came dressed in perfect pop star style, with flower headbands, boho outfits and plenty of accessories. The die hard fans went as far as to write Taylor song lyrics on their clothing.

We Are FSTVL #outofoffice15

Monday, June 1st, 2015

On Saturday we had the pleasure of attending We Are FSTVL 2015 in Upminster, Essex.

The sun was shining and the crowd was loving life at this mega dance festival in the middle of the countryside and we couldn’t wait to get dancing and style spotting.

wearefstvlroundup

The favourite footwear of choice seemed to be the now iconic Nike Air Huarache but there were a few other classic festival faves that we spotted throughout the day.

Guys were loving the white leather Converse All Stars, that they teamed with shorts and a tee for smart summer style. The girls were fans of durable Dr Martens and Hunter boots, that are super easy to wear with pretty much anything and equipped for all weather conditions.

Some of the alternative guys chose some Vans Old Skool’s and boots like our Cookie Desert Boots, going for a slight indie vibe, pairing with skinny black jeans and a white tee.

Some girls were loving the sunshine and opted for cute JuJu jellies that they paired with frilly socks and the fashion forward gals wore some 70’s style shoeboots like our tan Wanderlust.

We had the best time at We Are FSTVL, dancing to big acts like Gorgon City and MK and we will definately be taking some festival style pointers from the crowd. Bring on the rest of the festival season!

See you next year We Are FSTVL

Met Gala 2015 | Who Wore What

Tuesday, May 5th, 2015

Last night the stars descended on New York to attend the annual fundraising Met Gala, held at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts.

Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry and Cara Delevingne were amongst the celeb elite that embraced this year’s theme, China: Through the Looking Glass and their interpretations did not disappoint.

M

M

Organiser Anna Wintour placed a ban on mobile phones and selfies on the red carpet this year as to not draw attention away from the real cause of the evening and also to keep things a bit more “classy”. A big fan of a selfie, model Cara Delevingne chose to wear a tailored jumpsuit and have an intricate, temporary tattoo etched all over her arms and neck.

M

M

Although given a strong theme to wear this year, it seemed that more favoured the nearly naked look. Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez, to no surprise showed off their best assets in sheer, embellished gowns and Beyoncé took everyone’s breath away with a jewelled Givenchy gown that was nude apart from strategically placed beading.

M

Rihanna and Katy Perry made a bigger statement with their choice of gowns for the evening, going for bright colours rather than the traditional Chinese red that seemed to be very popular.

Katy Perry was dressed by Jeremy Scott for Moschino and oozed 90’s supermodel with her new pixie crop hair, reminiscent of Linda Evangelista back in the day.

Rihanna was draped in an enormous canary yellow dress coat, edged with intricate embroidery and fur which definately made an impact next to the vivid red carpet.

M

M

Model of the moment Kendall Jenner and Disney pop icon to bad girl Miley Cyrus opted for peek-a-boo dresses, to show off their statuesque figures.

Miley’s medieval style, studded dress was custom made by designer of the moment Alexander Wang and despite looking rather demure than usual, the songstress added her own unique edge with a slicked-back blue hairstyle.

Kendall looked every inch the red carpet mermaid with her green crystal Calvin Klein gown, laced up the side to expose just enough flesh, not quite as daring as her older sister, who is not shy to some over exposure.

Get the Look

Unfortunately the long gowns do not give us a chance to peek at the shoes but luckily some chose to expose their ankles this year.

Cara Delevingne’s tailored look by Stella McCartney was simple and sophisticated and looked great paired with a single sole heel like our black Pretty Lazer.

Mick Jagger’s daughter and model Georgia May Jagger looked breathtaking in her Oriental gown and chose to wear the shoe of the moment, the ghillie lace up. Get the look with our best selling Parisian heel in black.

There were some fashion highlights and some fashion disasters this year but as always the Met Gala did not disappoint with its host of famous faces and the odd gown a princess would be jealous of.

Festival Trend | Boho Babe #outofoffice15

Friday, May 1st, 2015

Festival season kicked off with Coachella in California and we can’t get enough of the bohemian style that every girl was loving. Take some inspiration from the celebs, models and fash pack for your festival style and be the ultimate boho babe.

Think crochet crop tops, long kimonos, feather hair accessories and gladiator sandals as your base for a touch of hippie chic. Practice some messy hair braid and over accessories with plenty of rings, bangles and flower headpieces.

boho

Add a touch of 70’s style with some suede Chelsea boots like the Bramble or a western fringe boot like the Minnetonka Bandera. Easy to wear, these boots look great with a bell sleeved, floral playsuit or some ripped denim shorts and a kaftan style top.

Get up to date with the hottest footwear style this summer, the ghillie lace up. The chunky Wild Thing heel is fab paired with a crochet smock dress, floor length kimono and some rose gold painted toenails.

A sandal is a must have in your festival backpack in case of warmer days and a classic Birkenstock is a summer favourite. The new mocha coloured Milano with rose gold hardware are perfect with a long cami and some paisley printed shorts.

Best Dressed Wedding Guest

Tuesday, April 28th, 2015

It’s that time of year again where you have to start planning your outfit for maybe 1 or more friend’s weddings and that usual panic starts to creep up.

You don’t want to upstage the bride but lets face it, you want to get pretty close. Having the outfit and shoes decided will give you time to perfect the hair and make up and less time freaking out whilst crying in front of your wardrobe on the day.

bestdressedwedding

If you like to play it safe with the outfit then go with a plain colour (not cream, white or ivory) and make a statement with the shoes. Stand-out styles like the cut out Petite and sheer Premium Mesh heels are a great match with a simple shift dress or midi A line skirt and cami combo.

For more casual beach and countryside weddings then a wooden block heel like the Winnie or a glitzy sandal like the Ontario are your go-to styles. Pair with a cute floral tea dress or a maxi skirt and a bardot style top for a retro 70’s vibe.

For the girls who aren’t afraid of losing their stilettos in the grass, the slingback Pin Up heel in a summer pastel colour is a classic occasion shoe. Wear it pin-up style with a tight fitting dress or midi skirt and a high neck top with backless detail. As the heels do all the talking, keep the hair and accessories simple with some chic drop earrings and a low side bun.

The grungy style London and Lava are great for the girl who’s wardrobe is full of chunky platforms, Dr Marten’s and Vagabonds. Pair these heavy-tred sling-backs with some super skinnies and a high neck crop top or add some feminine flair with a cute smock dress and some ankle socks.
