Power Points: How to Style

Friday, July 18th, 2014

A pointed toe is one of this season’s hottest shoe trends. Seen gracing the catwalks of SS14, the classic pointed silhouette is one of the most popular heels of choice this summer. Great for lengthening legs, slipping on a pair of points not only elongates your pins making legs look slender, it also adds a sleek and sophisticated feel to just about any outfit.

Team a pointed pump with a pair of vintage light washed boyfriend jeans for a feminine take on a casual look . Alternatively style a classic pointed stiletto heel with a pair of tailored shorts or cropped cigarette trousers – taking you from the boardroom to the bar!

Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week

Tuesday, July 15th, 2014

It’s been a week of runway shows, celeb spotting and chic street style. The Paris Haute Couture Fall-Winter collection thrilled fashion lovers with its mix of outrageous and classic styles. The designers were all out in force with glamorous designs that will be finding their way into the high street this autumn.

Chanel does neoprene

Chanel’s designer Karl Lagerfield experimented with neoprene -and featured a pregnant model wearing a Baroque-inspired wedding gown made out of the wetsuit material. He also featured neoprene ballroom gowns teamed with flat sandals that wrapped around the models’ ankles.

Spaced out

Inspired  by both astronauts and 18th-century styles, designer Raf Simons Dior’s collection featured full-skirted gowns with T-back tops and long coats and detailed flapper dressers with resin fringing.

Ladylike

The Giorgio Armani collection showed off softly tailored suits – so smart that even the shorts wouldn’t look out of place in the office. His models also looked beautifully feminine in paillette-covered tulle gowns.

Celeb spotting

The stars were out to play in Paris, from Kim Kardashian to Kristen Stewart, every fashionista came out to see what’s hot on the catwalk.

The Kardashian’s sister Kendall Jenner worked the catwalk for Chanel, and also looked hot off the runway. Arriving at the Balmain show with a Roman inspired embossed leather dress featuring pleated flaps, Kendall finished the look with black ankle stiletto boots.

Jennifer Lawrence looked stunning in a sophisticated gown at Dior’s exclusive after-show dinner. Jennifer wore a figure-hugging Dior Bouclé dress with metallic embroidery, paired with silver Dior pumps.

Meanwhile, Emma Watson looked classy in a shaped black trouser suit with nipped in waist and open-toed sandals.

And Kristen Stewart showed off her new short hairstyle, with edgy dyed-red tips. She rocked her new edgy look with a tight white crop top and high- waisted crocheted white trousers – teamed with white Christian Louboutin heels.

But the surprise of the week had to go to Hollywood A-listers Charlize Theron and Sean Penn, who walked into the Christian Dior show holding hands and sat on the front row together. Charlize, who is a brand ambassador for Dior, shone in a gold-fringed cocktail dress and high-heeled strappy nude sandals, while her new man looked cool in a black Dior suit and open-necked white shirt.

London Fashion Week 2014 – Day 1

Friday, February 14th, 2014

Roses (noses) are red; violets (lips) are blue, matching the pastel pouts and rosy cheeks of the fashion elite on a blustery Valentines morning – it was clear that pastels and pinks were a rip-roaring success to kick of the 2014 London Fashion Week. Whilst we couldn’t have predicted sunnier skies, Office appears to have nailed the fashion forecast promising bright things for the upcoming range (we’re already excited!). As the heavens opened and the fashionistas battled with their brolleys, we were transported to a balmy summer’s day as the crowds braved the bitter weather.

Whether it was cotton candy or fondant fancy, pastel power reigned supreme and accessories looked good enough to eat from head to toe. Even the fashion foodies were whipping up sweet treats wearing psychedelic prints that could have easily been plucked of the catwalks at SS14.

Our faves from AW13 have been re-crafted in crayon colours for high summer, whilst paying attention to cult cut-out styles. Jazz up our ‘On Top’s with destroyed denim and a plain white tee to blag that blogger look, or covet cool Scandi style in our edgy new season ankle boots.

As the paps were snapping, you only had to look up to see chunky soles keeping the leggy London ladies towering above the rest. In buttery leather, buckled and heeled to perfection, OFFICE certainly isn’t giving this style the boot for high summer 14.

For those who chose comfort over couture, our Kilter slip ons were the go-to for those on the go! Paired with denim shorts and a retro rucksack, these fashion favourites are set to sprint into summer without a second thought.

So whether you’re kicking it in slip ons, styling it up in pointed courts or keeping it playful in tasty pastels, Office has high summer sorted. Watch this space.

Carnaby Street gets a refurb

Thursday, February 6th, 2014

Not only was January long because we had made detox and money saving commitments, but we were also missing one of our longest standing stores. The wait is now over! Our new look Carnaby Street store is now open for business after a 3 ½ week refurb. We couldn’t be more proud of how it looks and our amazing motley crew that helped the whole thing come together.

Since it opened its doors over 10 years ago, our Carnaby Street store has grown from strength to strength. We have had a long line of celebs, bloggers, fashion designers and generally awesome people grace our threshold over the years and some serious tlc was long overdue. We waited until the manic Christmas rush was over and then closed the doors and got sprucing. Old fixtures and fittings were ripped out to make way for polished tiles, mirrors and new seating arrangements.

Some of the most noticeable changes would be the distinction between the top and bottom floors. Our bottom floor now has quirky blue velvet covered vintage cinema chairs to sit on whilst you try on shoes and upstairs has a lovely studded leather bench.

From the street you can now see into the store from every window, unlike before. This makes it even easier to spot your dream shoes even when you’re outside.

Of course we’re biased – so take a look for yourselves. If you haven’t been before you can find out the address in our store finder.

Which dresses rocked the red carpet this week?

Friday, November 8th, 2013

The countdown to Christmas party season has begun and here at OFFICE HQ we’ve been watching the red carpet to see what styles celebs are rocking. While we’re more likely to be modelling ensembles from the high street when it’s our turn to pull our glad rags on, we can still take inspiration from the designer frocks we’ve been lusting after.

Here are a few of our favourites from the past week.

Jaimie Alexander at the Thor: The Dark World premiere

Jaimie Alexander’s revealing Azzaro dress was certainly one of the most talked about outfits this week. The black floor-length creation featured the designer’s signature cut-out panels, but took them to a whole new level, revealing Ms Alexander’s navel, most of her leg and more than a glimpse of her derriere!

If you want to follow in Jaimie’s sartorial footsteps, there are plenty of mesh-panelled dresses on the market and you can always add a nude slip underneath to protect your modesty. Team with these Refine Yourself glittery heels for a glamorous look.

'Thor: The Dark World' Premiere - Los Angeles

Taylor Swift at the CMA Awards

The fashion rulebook says you shouldn’t really wear red on the red carpet, or to a Christmas party. But if Taylor Swift can break the rules and look this good, why can’t you? Our favourite country crooner’s full-skirted Elie Saab gown looked demure from the front but plunged at the back, showing off her slim waist. The crystal embellishments are also bang on trend this season.

If you don’t want to go for head-to-toe red, add a splash of festive spirit to an LBD with these Razzle red suede heels.

47th Annual CMA Awards - Arrivals - Nashville

Mollie King at Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards

Mollie King tapped into one of this season’s top trends with her contrast print Gucci dress. The mesh panel added a modern twist to the hounds tooth patterned ensemble and stopped the high neckline, long sleeves and modest hemline from looking frumpy.

To channel Mollie’s ladylike look, team your party dress with some Fauna t-bar heels in black suede.

This season, girly meets grunge. Contrast your brightest colours with a dark palette for an effortless look. Fashion has gone back to comfort with messy buns and shift dresses. Steal your boyfriend’s blazer for that desired oversized look and team it with that love/hate socks & sandals trick, with bright colours and OFFICE’s chunky, buckled ‘Ruffio’.

There were a few faces we recognised hanging out at LFW as well who also happened to be wearing a pair of our OFFICE shoes. True to form we couldn’t resist taking a snap or two!

Gandys – An Interview with Rob and Paul

Wednesday, July 10th, 2013

Gandys is a unique flip flop brand started by 2 passionate young brothers, Rob and Paul that have had some serious life experiences leading them to start something that has real purpose. The brothers were tragically orphaned by the Boxing Day Tsunami in 2004, which they narrowly survived themselves. Following this they wanted to turn the ultimate negative into a positive and use all of their life experience to date to help others.

Gandys Flip Flops

Having travelled for years, both with their family and individually, the brothers have always been closely involved with helping children in developing countries. With their footwear business they felt they could build a brand on their own beliefs so they created Orphans for Orphans. To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the tsunami, in 2014, the brothers are on target to open their first children’s home in their parents’ memory and eventually spread their work even further than the children’s home planned in India.

Bob Geldolf Support

We thought we would ask the brothers some questions to introduce us to this fresh and exciting new brand.

1. Why did you choose flip flops as your product, was there other ideas in the beginning?
Rob: I woke up with a mouth like Ghandi’s flip flops and after years of living in flip flops travelling around the World it seemed the perfect time to build a brand based on the beliefs my brother Paul and I learnt travelling and volunteering in India.

Gandys

2. Tell us more about the Orphans for Orphans campaign, how has Gandys helped orphans around the world since it began?
After being orphaned ourselves in the tsunami we had support from family and friends when we returned home from Sri Lanka. We obviously saw a lot and after years of a unique upbringing volunteering in India we wanted to create something sustainable in which we could help to open a home for those in need, which we hope to be one of many!

3. We love the idea that people can become Brand Ambassadors for Gandys, how can they do this and how can it help awareness?
It’s great way for other people to join us on our journey and we thought rather than have one particular celebrity ambassador we should involve everyone. Simple steps, such as sharing it on social networks to organising an event will help us towards the opening of our first children’s home.

Richard Branson Wearing Gandys

4. What are the ideas for the future with Gandys? Do you see more products in the future?
With the English weather perhaps wellies!

5. Our favourite colour flip flop is the definitely the Waikiki white, what’s yours?
Rob: Paul is a big fan of the bright Goa Green and I am a fan of the Necker Red as we now have Sir Richard Branson and everyone on Necker Island wearing them.

6. We know that you guys love to travel the world, where haven’t you visited but would love to?
We are both really keen to go to South America! Hopefully sometime in the near future we will be able to get out there.

Red Duck Gandys

7. Who would you love to see rocking a pair of Gandys?
We have already seen all sorts of people wearing them from Jamie Oliver, Abbey Clancy, Michelle Keegan, Premiership Footballers, Made in Chelsea and TOWIE stars. We also asked Usain Bolt to wear them out to the final of London 2012 but didn’t manage it on this occasion, perhaps in Brazil….

Sam Branson Wears Gandys

8. If Gandys could talk what would they say?
The English Weather has been nasty and not treated me with the TLC I need! Please take me somewhere sunny!

9. What has been the ultimate highlight so far for you guys since it all began?
There has been many highlights from getting into OFFICE, a shop we have always gone to for our shoes and seeing people out in Gandys. But the ultimate highlight was getting back out to India for Christmas and funding a teacher and educational equipment for a community after our first summer working out of our bedroom in Brixton.

Gandys

To get to know the brand even better the boys have made us this fantastic video, we at OFFICE are looking forward to rocking some Gandys flip flops this summer.
