I Work Out Like This

Thursday, January 8th, 2015

After a month of over indulgence and gym neglect, it is time to get back in shape and get fit and healthy for 2015.

The thought of stepping back into the gym or preparing yourself for a run in the freezing cold seems pretty daunting but a new year means a new start and exercise really does make you feel better (mentally at least).

After Christmas we always feel a bit rubbish with post party blues, too many carbs in our system and having to get up early again but January gives us the perfect excuse to gather the girls for a group gym sesh.

Fresh fruit and veg are your new best friend and with loads of healthy recipes out there, it is time to banish those leftover sausage rolls and mince pies.

To kick start your workout, you need the perfect excuse……new stuff!

The sportswear giants are here to help with the latest in gym wear and running trainers to have you looking your best whilst your sweating like crazy on a spin bike.

For dedicated gym bunnys and running enthusiasts, the Nike Zoom Fit Agility and Nike Lunar Cross Element have the built in technology to help you get the most out of your workout. These lightweight trainers have an adaptive fit and cushioned soles for soft impact when pounding the treadmill or doing circuits.

For the girls who like to take things a little easier with weight training, a bit of cardio and some calorie burning classes then the Nike Air Max Thea or New Balance 574 are you ideal companion. These cool and comfy trainers will take you to and from the gym with ease and are great for dress down weekends paired with jeans and a big jumper.

Sports bras are a must have gym essential to keep everything in its place when doing jumping jacks and the Nike Pro Bra should be first into your gym bag. Shorts and leggings will also make up your workout outfit and its always good to throw in a fleece for winter runs in the park.

Winter Occasions

Friday, December 12th, 2014

With family to visit and parties to go to, your Christmas calendar is piling up with events and we have the shoes to suit your every need in the holiday season.

If you are still panic shopping for presents then you need to be armed with some trainers to pound the pavements with your girlfriends. A pair of retro New Balance 574‘s or a pair of contemporary Nike Air Max Thea’s will be your best friend on long shopping days, keeping your comfy and help you run between stores.

With plenty of nights out planned for the holidays and of course the big one on New Year’s Eve, a perfect pair of heels is a must. It is the season of sparkle and sequins and a glittery dress needs a black heel like the Swirl Shoeboot. If opting for a monochrome, simple look you can wow with shoes and show off in a pair of rose gold Salvation stilettos.

When it’s time to walk of the massive Christmas dinner or pre Christmas buffet then a pair of waterproof Hunter wellies or Timberland‘s are ideal for country walks in winter. Grab the dog and the family and brave the elements with your winter fearing footwear.

Possibly the favourite of all days over Christmas is the days that you can cosy up in front of the TV watching back to back films and stuffing your face with leftovers. What could possibly be a better  than a pair of warm and toasty slippers from UGG Australia and Bedroom Athletics to wear with your pyjamas all day.

Meet New Balance’s Creative Directors

Savania Davies-Keiller and Roberto Crivello

In the fall of 2008, New Balance named Savania Davies-Keiller and Roberto Crivello, founders and designers of the design technology brand DDCLAB, as global creative directors. In their new role, Davies Keiller and Crivello have set the direction for the sneaker brand’s lifestyle category through their vision and innovative design approach.

The move to work with New Balance is a logical one for both Davies-Keiller and Crivello, who have worked with New Balance- owned PF Flyers since 2003. In their evolved role as creative directors, the two deliver global products that seamlessly combine expert design and comfort. “Our main goal with New Balance Lifestyle is to deliver shoes that can be worn to support an active lifestyle with a focus on design material and color. For example,” says Davies-Keiller, “fall ‘09 includes fabrics such as aluminum coated rip-stop, reflective nylons, soft gloved leathers and perforated meshes.”

Davies-Keiller and Crivello have become well regarded for their early use of advanced materials and fabrications. The design team has previously incorporated sophisticated technologies into apparel and footwear including: Climate Control (body temperature regulation), Metal Inox blends (insulation and sun protection), Anti-Microbial fabrics (sanitary benefits),
Anti-Radiation pocket detailing (cell phone and i-pod radiation protection), and Copper pocket details (identity theft scanner protection). Davies-Keiller and Crivello have also been using Bamboo, Cork, PLA based fibers derived from plants, Corn, Banana Leaf, Vegetable dye and other unique natural fibers years before these materials were part of a fashionable eco movement.

Davies-Keiller and Crivello’s dedication of working directly with New Balance and previous clients (including Dupont, Levis and Gap) to develop innovative perspectives on material applications has lead to critical acclaim by the fashion and design world. The duo was presented with the Material ConneXion Medium Award, nominated by Surface Magazine, for their excellence in Fashion Innovation in 2007.

Attributing their inspirations to everything from tree trunks to skyscrapers, Davies-Keiller and Crivello lend their talent to the continued evolution and development of the New Balance brand. According to Davies-Keiller, “Our goal is to forge a marriage between true design and true ingenuity. We truly believe New Balance exemplifies the perfect combination of heritage,
craftsmanship, innovation and imagination.”
