Superbowl XLIX

Monday, February 2nd, 2015

Last night (US time) early hours for us saw the biggest US sporting event, the annual Superbowl XLIX. Hosted in Arizona, this iconic game saw the New England Patriots take on the Seattle Seahawks with the Patriots winning by just 4 points.

Even though the American Football game had us all gripped, the real thing we were excited about was the half time show. A record breaking number of viewers from around the world tuned in to watch Katy Perry perform alongside Missy Elliot and Lenny Kravitz, with guest supports throughout the evening from John Legend and Frozen’s Idina Menzel.

Katie Perry had multiple outfit changes during her performance and was accompanied by dancing sharks, flew in on a huge flaming star and rode across the stage on a huge  lion.

OFFICE Muse’s: – Meet Fabienne

Thursday, January 8th, 2015

Let us introduce you to our OFFICE Muse, stylist, blogger, presenter and DJ extraordinaire Fabienne Hebrard.

This style savvy multi-talent is definitely an East London girl at heart, constantly rummaging through vintage shops and supporting up and coming designers to use for work or just to dress herself. With mermaid, My Little Pony locks, Fabienne is not afraid to take fashion risks and mixes bright colours with edgy, key pieces to create her unique style. She loves some statement metallic heels to wow the crowds at her gigs and can’t live without some chunky cleated sole ankle boots for everyday.

Check out Fabienne’s Muse page and how to get her look here.

During a break from shooting we caught up with Fabienne to hear what inspires her and get some style tips for 2015.

Who is your style muse? I love bad-ass women who ooze confidence like Juliette Lewis and Jennifer Lawrence – for me style is about personality as well as wearing something with a bit of an edge.

January is a tricky time of year style-wise, what are your top tips?

My top tips for January is to wear something that will be transeasonal. With the un-predictable weather, it’s best to invest in an ankle boot. It’s a classic style that can be dressed down or up and take you through different types of weather. Even an open toe can be worn with cute socks or tights when the weather is a little colder. Layering is key!

How does your work look differ from your down time look?

Even though I’m tall I do love heels, so I’ll often be in a wedge or cleated sole even in my down time. Although often when I’m running to different PRs for styling jobs, be it pulling clothes for a shoot, a DJ gig or  presenting job, I do love a good practical pair of trainers, plimsolls or ankle boots to get me around faster.

What do you new things do you invest in and one thing you can’t live without?

I can’t live without black boots. I have so many pairs and am forever buying new pairs! As I don’t want to wear them out but always seem to do so (dammit!).

When I invest in newness I like to go for something that will go with most of my wardrobe. Whether its black, white or a standout piece of footwear like metallic or holographic it needs to be hardwearing for all the different weathers we go through on a daily basis in London, particularly at this time of year.

Who and what inspires you in fashion? Street style inspires me everyday. When I’m out and about around where I live in Shoreditch and particularly during London Fashion Week, people really go all out and its nice to see a real mix of crazy and cool styles. I like mixing the two.

What magazines, blogs and people do you take inspiration from?

I subscribe to Dazed & Confused so if I don’t get a chance to buy a magazine I know that’s coming through my door and its my go-to for new talent in fashion & music. I love Tirade for their shoots, Nylon online and Hypetrack & Pinboard blog for music.

Do your friends inspire you? Yes, a few of my best friends have their own fashion label so its always nice to see what trends their looking to and designing around for the coming seasons. I’m inspired by all my friends confidence and drive in whatever they do.

How important is footwear when building your outfit?

Footwear is super important as I’ll often start an outfit based on my footwear and work the clothes around it as it is an important part of what look I’m going to channel that day.

What brands inspire you?

I’m really into supporting young British designers and try to represent that in my work – be it wearing it for a gig or using them to style. I’m in love with British brands Sera Ulgar, LulaLoop, Gemma Goldstone & An Original Leeroy for full on 90s vibes as well as LA brands like Tiger Mist and Aussie based brands such as Nixikillick & Discount Universe. I love vintage finds from Beyond Retro & LFF Boutique.

What are your style resolutions?

I’ve been investing more in key pieces rather than buying something that will only last a season so I want to continue that in 2015. That and my obsession with metallics!

Fabulous Flats

Wednesday, November 5th, 2014

With party season about to kick off, we are all hitting the shops trying to find the perfect outfit to wear to the office Xmas party and all the other formal events we are sure to be attending this winter.

Finding the shoes to match the outfit is always tricky but our motto is to start with the shoes as its much easier to dress from the bottom upwards.

Not all ladies are keen on a pointed stiletto or a skyscraper platform and especially the taller girls who don’t want to tower above all their friends. You can still be just as fabulous in a pair of glam flats and we have selected our favourite statement pumps to get you in the party mood.

If you favour plain coloured outfits with little fuss, you can make a statement with you shoes, adding a pop of colour, texture or premium finish. Pair an LBD with a pair of pointed metallic and pony-skin Vibe Loafers for a minimal, 60’s look.

For a more boyish look, wear an oversized sequin tee with some smart, black cigarette pants and stand out with a pair of leopard print Virtue Monk Shoes or some studded Vaughan Lace Ups.

For slightly more dressed down events in a casual bar or restaurant, add a flash of metallic or patent with the Verse Loafer or Karmen Ballet pump and match with some ripped, turned up jeans and a pastel, cashmere jumper.

For the girly girls who love a cami and a prom style tulle skirt, the zebra print Kwik Step Slipper and silver Vixen Point are the perfect accompaniment, adding a touch of ballerina elegance to a classic party look.

Heavy Metal

Wednesday, September 17th, 2014

Metallics are here to stay, carrying over from summer but taking on a darker, inky sheen for the colder months.

This dissonance trend adds a subtle metallic detail to any outfit and the iridescent effect has a textural and dimensional quality that gives the shoes a luxe effect.

The pointed Strobe heel and Kicker Slip On look as if they have been dipped in a petrol pool with greens and purples shining through the hi-shine black. Pair with some denim, loose white tee and structured jacket.

For a warmer tone, go for the Georgia Court or Vectra Brogue in deep bronze, great matched with tailored trousers or girly dresses and thick tights this Autumn.

Make sure you have a touch of dark metallic into your wardrobe this season to easily glam up the simplest of outfits.
