Save the Date – Occasion

Tuesday, March 31st, 2015

This time of year brings a feeling of excitement and slight dread as our calendars start to fill up with Spring/Summer occasions.

Whether its prom, a wedding, a day at the races or dinner with the extended family, the question we all ask ourselves is…what an earth am I going to wear!?

occasionGet your inspiration from the catwalk and celebs this season, think Easter colours, powder pink, baby blue and soft yellows with metallic touches.

Prom, is all glitz and glamour, films like Grease, Pretty in Pink and She’s All That are your go to for ideas, take inspo from 90’s colour palettes and 50’s silhouettes. Oversized tulle prom skirts and 2 piece dresses are taking over from your classic body-con and satin evening gowns.

Go big with accessories and add a statement jewelled clutch and make sure your date gets you a larger than life corsage.  Wear some ghillie, lace up Parisian’s with your ankle length dress or skirt to show off your stand-out shoes and freshly painted toes.

SHOP PROM

Weddings, they seem to all happen all at once, meaning you need a few outfit options because the guests may cross over and we cant bear the thought of being seen in the same outfit. Shoes can be your staple, work around those and pick a metallic or a neutral shade that can go with most outfits. A simple shift dress in a bold colour looks great with the single sole Saintly sandal, minimal and chic, this look is fail-safe.

If dresses aren’t your thing, a tailored jumpsuit or smart co-ord is lovely paired with a pointed heel like the Phoenix and accessorized with an oversized clutch (which can handle camera, confetti, tissues, make-up and possibly some flip flops to change in to after hours on the dance floor)

When you are lucky enough to be supermodel tall then heels may not be your first choice. Show off your long legs with some wide leg palazzo pants, a cami and a metallic Oscar sandal.

SHOP WEDDING

Ladies day at the races always calls for OTT glamour and similar to a wedding you can opt for a nice cocktail dress or a smart co-ord but the outfit is definitely all about the shoes and the hats. You can either go all out with some skyscraper platforms like the Palma and wear with a girly dress or skirt or keep things understated with a kitten heel like the Windsor and some tailored high waisted trousers and a sequin tee.

SHOP FOR RACES

Whatever the occasion, look at it this way – an excuse to go shopping for new things. Once you have got the shoes right, the rest is easy.

London Fashion Week Roundup

Wednesday, February 25th, 2015

LFW_02_c

Yesterday saw the end of London Fashion Week where the best of British design talent showcased their AW15 collections and the fash pack were out in full force giving us styling tips for the new season.

LFW_04

Despite the cold British weather, stylists, bloggers and journalists were dressed to impress as they hung out around Somerset House waiting for the next show to begin.

Sportswear was a big hit this year and everywhere you looked you could see the classic shell-toe adidas Superstar on men and women. Dressed up with tailored trousers and cocoon coats or dressed down with ripped boyfriend jeans and thick knitwear, the Superstar was a firm fashion favourite.

Points, slip-ons and mules were also dominating the style set this season and it seemed everyone was loving the retro 70s look, opting for camel coats, flares and paisley prints.

LFW_06

To coincide with the launch of LFW on Friday 20th we teamed up with Vans to host a VIP gifting event at the ME hotel, a stones throw from Somerset House and in the heart of all the action. In the evening we took key members of press, plus a load of competition winners to our first #OFFICEHOUSEPARTIES event at the House of Vans London, find out more about the night here > http://bit.ly/1upyEjJ

LFW_09

On Friday 20th we had the pleasure of attending Jean Pierre Braganza in the main tent at Somerset House and we realised early on we wanted one of everything. Taking his inspiration from fighter jets and film noir the collection consisted of oversized tees, fur trimmed aviator jackets and wide legged slacks. We would wear this power vixen collection with our black Pitch Point mule, Naughty Thigh High boot or Precious shoe boot.

LFW_07

It was an early start on Sunday 22nd as we heading to the Institute of Contemporary Arts on The Mall to attend the Palmer // Harding show and presentation. Wearing our new Lance Monk shoe the models looked like Russian dolls in heavy wool coats, high neck shirts and embroidered dresses with their hair in milk-maid braids.

LFW_10

On Monday evening we attended the Hunter Original show at the Albert Embankment warehouse where Alasdhair Willis put on a visual masterpiece with models walking in amongst cascading water. Giving the feel of a wet British winter the models were wrapped up in thick outerwear, oversized trousers and of course the trusty waterproof rubber welly in many forms.

LFW definately went off with a bang and we cannot wait until next season.

adidas Originals Superstar : How to Wear

Thursday, February 5th, 2015

The end of 2014 saw the revival of some of adidas Originals styles from back in the day and 2015 is all about the adidas Superstar.

This shell-toe, B-Boy classic brings back memories of the 90’s when we were fully in the Spice girl phase and rocking our adidas popper trousers, crop tops and choker necklaces.

Although these trends have surprisingly come back around, the Superstar has a new sports luxe appeal and becoming one of the most papped styles at fashion week.

040215_blog

The classic black and white Superstar models are a good base to start with but with the imminent arrival of the adidas Originals x Pharrell SuperColour collection we will soon be spoilt for choice.

Keep things casual with some beat up boyfriend jeans, a stripy tee and an oversized blazer or wear with your ripped knee skinnies and a cosy chunky knit jumper.

What once was worn with a shell suit is now worn with an actual suit with the fash pack rocking them with some black tailored cigarette pants, a camel cocoon coat and some aviator shades.

The adidas Superstar is your 2015 wardrobe essential, so get in there early and start matching it with multiple outfits this season.

OFFICE Muses: – Meet Thomas

Thursday, January 8th, 2015

Let us introduce to you to our OFFICE Muse, Thomas Hawking a musician and model.

He likes to keep things simple when it comes to his personal style and his footwear consists of well made classics. A self confessed style hunter, he is determined to track down something he really wants and make it his own. A rapper by trade he will often be found at his favourite rap clubs spitting bars but he doesn’t fit the rapper stereotype by any means, favouring a smart, neutral style when he performs. On dress down days he lives in his leather desert boots and adidas Superstars.

Check out Thomas’ Muse page and how to get his look here.

thomas_02

Why is office the brand for you?

I feel that OFFICE always has a consistent collection and always ticks the boxes when it comes to men’s footwear.

How do you shop?

I keep my eyes open for specific things and when I see something I like I style it to make it my own. We are lucky to live in a time that if we see something we like we can hunt it out and usually find it.

What are your top picks to get you through January?

With it being pretty cold this time of year I would definitely suggest lots of layers, I often wear a thin bomber jacket under a thick wool Harris Tweed jacket when it is really cold. Some hard wearing Timberlands or leather desert boots are a must for everyday.

What do you wear on stage how does it differ from your daytime look?

When I’m rapping I like to wear smart stuff and keep thing neutral, simple and well made. Wearing the right clothes and shoes always helps to make you feel at ease on stage and I like to add a unique spin on classic looks. Most people associate rappers with sportswear and baggy clothes and don’t get me wrong I live in my trainers sometimes but I also like to wear some nice loafers or leather boots when I’m performing.

How important is footwear when building your outfit?

I have quite a specific idea of what I like so footwear is very important to me as it completes an outfit. Whether I am staying casual with a desert boot or mixing in some sportswear with an adidas Superstar, the whole look needs to work together.

What are your style resolutions for 2015?

For me it is finding key pieces that will see you through as I’d rather invest in quality. It would be great to find 4 or 5 shoes that will see me though until summer, I like transitional styles, such as desert boots, trainers and some suede lace ups that are good throughout the seasons.

OFFICE Muses: – Meet Natasha

Thursday, January 8th, 2015

Introducing our OFFICE Muse, Natasha Ndlovu, a blogger and model based in London.

Natasha’s blog showcases her personal tastes and thoughts on fashion, photography, beauty and travel, as well as sharing her experiences working in the fashion industry. Her personal style leans towards a classic look which often sees her mix designer brands with high street. She wears a lot of sharp tailored pieces contrasted with luxe fabrics and loves a black ankle boot. A fan of a simple monochrome look, she plays with accessories, shoes and make up to add pops of colour.

Check out Natasha’s Muse page and how to get her look here.

natasha_01

During a break from shooting we caught up with Natasha to find out who inspires her and what her style tips are for 2015.

Why is OFFICE the brand for you?

OFFICE for me is everything under one roof. From running shoes, to work shoes and party shoes, Office has something for every occasion, as well as a variety of brands to cater to everyone’s tastes. I shop mainly online as it’s convenient and allows me to multi-task without having to leave my desk.

What are your top picks to get you through January?

A pair of brogues because they can be dressed up or down and they are comfortable for getting around in all day, plus they keep your feet warm. Over the knee boots also work with any look and can transition from day-time to night-time.

January is a tricky time of year of new clothes, but its cold, what are your top tips?

A nice warm overcoat or jacket with a shearling lining does the trick. If you can find one that works during the day, as well as over an evening dress, then you are set. From there, it’s just a matter of keeping your toes warm with the right pair of heels.

What new things do you invest in and one thing you can’t live without?

I invest in shoes and bags mainly but seeing as I live in London where it’s cold most of the year, a good leather jacket and coat are also essential. For me, it will always be quality over quantity.

How often do you buy shoes?

I buy shoes once a month but when it tends to be a busy time of the year like Fashion Week, music festivals, I may shop for shoes more often because I like to wear something new to special events and places.

 Whose look inspires you?

Elena Permoniva’s style is inspiring because she mixes high end and high street looks very well.

Do you change your look to suit your shoes?

If I buy a new pair of shoes, then I will dress around that and make sure my outfit accommodates my shoes. For the most part I wear simple items of clothing which tend to go with almost any pair of shoes.

 Who is your style muse?

Vanessa Hong of The Haute Pursuit is my style muse. She keeps it simple and inexpensive but the results of her styling are just stunning.

Who and what inspires you in fashion?

I am inspired by blogs, tumblr and street style, as well as stylish prominent women in the industry.

What magazines, blogs, people do you follow?

Porter magazine is a favourite of mine. In terms of blogs, tuulavintage.com because she not only blogs about clothes but travels all over the world. As for people, I have find individuals on Instagram whose style inspires me on a daily basis.

 What brands inspire you?

Saint Laurent, Balmain and Chloe, to name a few, inspire me. They celebrate femininity but also empower women in how they present themselves to people.

 What are your style resolutions?

To wear more print and colour in the winter, not just monochrome. I also want to make more use of my hat collection because I tend to rely on my beanies too often.
