High Summer Press day 2014

Thursday, March 13th, 2014

Tuesday 11th March saw bloggers, fashion editors and journalists leave their stresses (and designer totes!) at the door of COWSHED Spa on Carnaby Street. What were they there for? … A sneak preview of the OFFICE High Summer collection and a little touch of TLC. In the wake of manic fashion weeks passed; pinkies were polished, tootsies were twinkling and knots were soothed as the cowshed ladies and OFFICE press team alike got to work on keeping our guests preened, fed and watered.

press 1

The first lucky ladies through the door nibbled on avocado toast, granola pots and bacon breakfast sliders whilst admiring the shelves of new season sliders of a different form. Our current season Hoxton Cross and Hype see new high summer dimensions with embellished straps and bold fastenings, leaving us even more excited about summer – if that was even possible.

press2

Throughout the day we greeted familiar faces and the regular OFFICE Shoe fans. We also had a visit from some big titles such as ELLE, Grazia and Stylist all requesting new season styles for their upcoming shoots!

The trends for summer made a statement amongst the serene COWSHED backdrop. Neon suede met leopard printed soles and the classic espadrille takes on an animalistic theme in high summer’s ‘Fierce Fiesta’ trend. Our ‘Relaxed Utility’ trend was a sure fire hit with the fashion editors who love to step into a comfy yet stylish pair of foot candy for rushing around town.

As if the day wasn’t good enough, we finished on a sugary high with profiteroles and strawberry crumble treats. As instagram went into overdrive, we were delighted to hear the collection was a hit  and are now looking forward to seeing it gracing some of our favourite magazines and feet in months to come! Watch this space…

Hair today…

Wednesday, March 12th, 2014

Spring is the perfect time for a fresh start, and what better way to mark the new season than with new hair? Whether you fancy chopping, styling or colouring your locks, here’s our guide to the hottest hair styles of the season.

Cartoon hair

Ok, cartoon hair may not be the most flattering name for a ‘do but it perfectly describes the mega shiny, blunt and often crazily coloured styles sported by the likes of Katy Perry and Lily Allen. This is a fun but high maintenance look, you’ll need to keep your locks glossy and have your barnet cut regularly to keep it in tip top condition. Remember, cartoon characters never have a hair out of place. Team with dramatic eyeliner and ruby red lips for a look that will ensure you stand out from the crowd.

Hair icon – Lily Allen at the Brits. We love that yellow streak.

lilly allen

Pixie crops

Charlize Theron, Jennifer Hudson, Jaimie Alexander, it seems like all of Hollywood are chopping off their locks and embracing the pixie crop. The sleek, shorn look is ideal for summer; no battling with straighteners or curlers, and you can still play around with it. Jennifer Lawrence’s hair rarely looks the same for two red carpet appearances in a row. We’ve seen it slicked to one side, rough and ready and in full on quiff mode.

Hair icon – Jennifer Lawrence, who else?

 j law

Tousled and textured

The idea behind tousled hair is that you look as though you’ve just jumped out of bed and run your fingers through it, but sadly for most of us mere mortals, it’s actually a fairly lengthy process involving texture creams, extensive blow-drying, and a good blast of hairspray.

Hair icon – Rosie Huntington-Whitely, please tell us she doesn’t get out of bed looking like that?

 rosie

Bold shades

Dip dye is out and single shades are in, but that doesn’t mean you have to stick to you usual blonde/brunette/red locks. In fact, the bolder and brighter the colour, the better, if recent catwalk shows are anything to go by, with Chanel sending models down the runway with brightly-coloured extensions. If you want something a bit more subtle, the pink rinse on Marc Jacobs’ models made us look twice

Hair icon – Kelly Osboure. Ms O has been rocking purple locks whether they are in style or not.

Celebs in OFFICE: 2013

Tuesday, January 7th, 2014

When flicking through our favourite monthly and weekly mags or even noticing the odd tweet, there’s really nothing better than spotting a celeb in a pair of our shoes. There have been so many ‘celeb in OFFICE’ sightings over 2013 that we thought we should pick out a couple of our favourites.

First up we have Fearne Cotton. She had a great year, co hosting Children in Need, having a baby and of course being sighted in some fabulous strappy high heels, otherwise known as Reckless.

CELEBS LEAVE TV SERIES CELEBRITY JUICE AFTER FILMING

Second on our list is Mollie King. As one of the Saturday’s she has glitzy party after another. For one in particular she rolled up in our Reim high heel. We love the peep toe take on a classic court!

InStyle Best Of British Talent Party - Arrivals

Nicole Scherzinger is our number 3 choice of star celeb in OFFICE picks. She was spotted as she made her way into the Celebrity Juice studios sporting the classic and perfectly formed ‘Risky Business’ heel.

'Celebrity Juice' TV show, London, Britain - 16 Oct 2013

Number 4 is Miss Pixie Lott. We love her retro look with her 60′s inspired peplum top, shorts and scarf print platform combo at the Radio music live event. Pixie wore the ‘Letterboxplatform heels.

Radio City Live

Last but not least is the country singing pop princess, Taylor Swift. With dozens of awards and famous boyfriends a plenty, she is one of the most glamourous celebs we’ve spotted in 2013 sampling a pair of our own. Here we saw her rocking the ‘Oppose‘ heeled sandal.

Trends we won’t miss in 2014

Friday, January 3rd, 2014

2013 was a great year for fashion, but as always, there was room for a few errors. We take a look at some of the faux pas we hope won’t be returning in 2014.

Mum jeans

There’s room in our wardrobes for skinny jeans, bootleg, boyfriend, cropped and even jeggings, but we draw the line at mum jeans. With their high waist, tapered legs and baggy thighs, was there ever a more unflattering way to wear denim?

Too much flesh

We are all for flashing a bit of toned tummy in a crop top, or for some artfully placed sheer panelling in a LBD, but 2013 saw some people daring to bare far too much. Bikini tops and hot pants are for the beach, not the red carpet. We’re looking at you Miley Cyrus.

MTV Europe Music Awards - Arrivals - Amsterdam

OTT flatforms

Now we love a statement shoe, but some of the crazy flatforms being sold were too much even for us. Plus they are actually really hard to walk in, give us some four inch heels or flat pumps any day.

Mullet skirts

Much like the hair-do they take their name from, mullet skirts with a short front and a trailing back have had their day. In 2014, pick either mini, midi or maxi and stick with it.

All over matching prints

Head to toe matching prints is always too much, instead, break up your outfit with some neutrals, or opt for a mixture of clashing prints in complementary colours.

Costume Institute Benefit Gala at the Metropolitan Museum - New York

Overalls

Jumpsuits and playsuits can look very stylish, onesies are fine in the privacy of your own home, but there’s no place in our wardrobes for overalls, unless you are doing some DIY.

Upcoming events: Silent Disco at the View From The Shard

Friday, November 29th, 2013

Silent discos have been cropping up everywhere recently, from the London Science Museum, to the foot of the London Eye. And now, they are heading to new heights, with one taking over the View From The Shard for one night only.

On Tuesday December 3, you can strut your stuff at 1,016ft above ground level, at the top of Western Europe’s tallest building, thanks to Time Out.

The beauty of silent discos (which, for the uninitiated, involve dancing to music played over wireless headphones rather than speakers, giving the impression that everyone is dancing in silence) is that it’s like everyone is in their own private party, so you can sing your heart out and dance wildly and the chances are no one will be paying the slightest bit of attention to you.

Plus, there’s an amazing view to enjoy if you need a break from boogieing.

The fun takes place between 8pm and midnight and tickets cost £29.99 per person. This is the first time such an event has taken place, and organisers have admitted it will probably be the last, so make sure you don’t miss out.

If you’re lucky enough to get your hands on some tickets, we suggest going for all out glam, after all it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. And don’t be scared about getting out your highest heels – there’s a lift to the top!

Breast Cancer Awareness month; The round up

Monday, November 4th, 2013

The Final Total..

We had a brilliant month that was fun, interesting and all for charity!

Drum roll please……OFFICE’s grand total raised for Breast Cancer Care this Breast Cancer Awareness month is £67,738.49!

Thanks to everyone who donated, got involved and contributed to such a brilliant charity that is so close to the hearts of everyone at OFFICE.

It’s been a big month at OFFICE for the whole team. We’ve all be beavering away trying to do what we can to raise money for Breast Cancer Care in support of Breast Cancer Awareness month. So what exactly have we been getting up to to have raised such a brilliant amount, I hear you ask? Well, here’s a little round up for you of all the things that we’ve been doing to support the cause and how we got involved.

The Breast Cancer Care Fashion Show

We were so kindly invited to the Breast Cancer Care London fashion show, hosted at the very glamorous Grosvenor House, AJW Marriott Hotel on Park Lane. The show itself featured models who have all had a diagnosis of the disease, and we saw them strut their stuff down the catwalk in our very own OFFICE Ribbon shoe. We also heard the tragic news that the weekend before the event one of the models sadly passed away before being able to take part; Sally White.

To read more about the fashion show and see some fabulous pictures of the evening go to the blog here.

The Pink Day

In honour of such a great charity OFFICE turned pink for a day. Stores and Head Office dressed up to the nines head to toe in pink all to raise to some extra pennies.

You can check out all the pictures on Facebook here.

The Donations

We would guess that you all noticed that our brilliant store staff have been shaking the buckets in order to get you, our lovely customers, to part ways with your lose change and pennies in store. And they’ve done a brilliant job by raising a whopping £61,881!

The Shoe and Badge

The OFFICE Ribbon shoe was designed with this brilliant cause in mind. Taking inspiration from the current trends and the hot pink colour synonymous with Breast Cancer Care, we produced a beautiful heel that all women will be proud to wear. With over 70% of the shoe’s worth going straight to the charity there are no excuses good enough for why you wouldn’t buy this shoe!

Plus we added a little extra and we’re also selling the Breast Cancer Care pin on site. Walking around drenched head to toe in good deeds for all to see, just for £1 extra. The good feelings just keep rolling!

Shop the Ribbon Heel and the Badge here, there’s still time!

The Real Life Story

We were lucky enough to have the very brave Laura Owens write us a blog all about her experience of having this disease. In it we hear about the history of the charity and Laura also talks about how she felt and how she was helped by Breast Cancer Care during her treatment. Laura was one of the models in the London fashion show at the start of the month.

Read her blog here.

The Bake Sale

The secret bakers of OFFICE HQ got their bake on for a very special cake sale. With muffins, biscuits, cakes and cupcakes galore, we had a table full of delights, treats and goodies for a whole day! It was cake heaven and it was all for charity! Everything was sold for at least £1 throughout the day and we managed to raise £234.82! Thanks to everyone who got involved!

The Sample Sale

At head office we are lucky enough every now and again to be given the opportunity to buy old used samples. Scrambling up the stairs is only part of the challenge, once you get there it’s a race to find the shoes you’ve been keeping your eye on all season to see if they made it in! This month we had a big sale, with all proceeds going to Breast Cancer Care. The grand total for a day of crazy sample buying was £610.67!

Thanks again to everyone that took part. Bring on next year!

Trends women are ‘borrowing’ from men

Friday, November 1st, 2013

This season women’s wear is borrowing from the boys. Androgyny was a prominent fixture on the Autumn/Winter 13 catwalks, with Stella McCartney, Dior and Vanessa Bruno all teaming masculine tailoring and materials with a few feminine flounces to great effect. And we love the way Rita Ora, LakeBell and Sophie Dahl have rocked the look on the red carpet.

We take a look at some of the key elements of the trend in recent months.

Traditional tailoring

We’re used to seeing Jennifer Lawrence in frothy gowns on the red carpet, however, she truly embraced masculine chic in the latest Dior campaign, posing in a slick tuxedo-style suit. The trend for tailoring was also a key feature of Stella McCartney’s latest collection with pinstripe double breasted dresses, peplum blouses worn with structured trousers and de constructed men’s jackets.

zara martin

To get the look yourself, team a structured suit with a softer shirt or silky t-shirt and sky-scraper heels to add a feminine edge.

Statement sweaters

Givenchy, Erdem and Christopher Kane all sent models down the Autumn/Winter catwalks in baggy statement sweaters, making them one of the must-have items of the season.

Slouchy shapes and bold prints add a masculine edge to this trend. Wear with simple jeans and chunky Nike Air Max trainers for a relaxed look, or dress up with a mini skirt and boots.

UNICEF UK Halloween Ball - London

Beautiful brogues

Add a masculine edge to even the girliest of outfits with one of this season’s hottest accessories, the flat shoe. Team brogues with tapered, ankle length trousers or a dress and slouchy blazer for a look which is very Dries Van Noten.

If you can’t do without your heels, why not try a pair of chunky-heeled brogues?

MBFW Spring 2014 - Rag & Bone

Over-sized coats

Simple, over-sized and streamlined are the key words to bear in mind when choosing a coat this season.

Add a feminine edge by choosing a coat in this season’s key colour; pale pink, or take inspiration from Stella McCartney and add some beautiful brooches to the lapels.

The Perfect Shoes for Halloween…

Friday, October 25th, 2013

Halloween is just around the corner and excitement levels are rising here at OFFICE HQ. It’s definitely one of our favourite holidays, when else are you encouraged to dress as outrageously as possible? Plus it’s always a good excuse to gorge on sweets!

Chloe Moretz

Unsurprisingly, we’re planning our costumes around our shoes; which unlike that plastic witches’ hat or those devil horns, you’ll want to continue wearing long after October 31st …

Office Ariel Back Zip Boots

These leather knee-high boots are exactly what a glamorous witch would wear. Team with stripy tights, a black mini dress and, of course, a pointy hat.

Office On Top Red Patent Heels

We can trace our love affair with shoes back to Dorothy’s ruby red slippers. Pair these red heels with a blue gingham dress. Tiny dog optional.

Office Illustrate Gold Sandals

Team these gladiator-style sandals with a floaty white dress and gold headband for a perfect Grecian goddess look.

Office Freddy Black Leather Brogues

Channel your inner Daisy Buchannan by wearing these heeled brogues with a Great Gatsby-esque flapper dress.

 Holly Willoughby

Where to wear your costumes?

If you don’t fancy trick or treating, show off your costume at one of these spooktastic events.

Where? Halloween Special Haunted Circus, Love & Liquor, London.

When? October 31st

If Stephen King’s It is your worst nightmare, this circus-themed Halloween party complete with ‘evil clowns lurking in the shadows’ will petrify you. Fancy dress is a must.

Where? Halloween Ghost Walks, Tabard Piazza, London.

When? October 28th-31st

Scare yourself silly at some of London’s creepiest sights, including haunted pubs and the Cross Bones Graveyard.

Where? Scott House Social Cinema: Halloween Edition, The Old Crown, Digbeth, Birmingham.

When? October 30th

If a spine-chilling showing of cult horror classic Rosemary’s Baby doesn’t get you in the mood for Halloween, nothing will.

Where?AntwerpMansion Halloween Jam, Manchester.

When? October 30th

This renovated Victorian mansion is a bit spooky at the best of times so they are going all out for Halloween with horror-themed décor and music. Let’s do the Monster Mash!

The Breast Cancer Care Fashion Show

Friday, October 11th, 2013

As we all know, October is widely known as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Having been proud supporters of the cause for 4 years, we at OFFICE HQ are ever keen to raise money in any way that we can. Whether it be creating a shoe, dying our hair and hosting bake sales – October is all about fundraising.

Every year, Breast Cancer Care support and host a huge fashion show in London– all of the models have either recovered from a diagnosis or are still undergoing treatment. As a supporting brand, OFFICE jumped at the chance to attend the show – which was nothing short of inspiring!

IMG_4834

Held at the grand Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane, we were greeted at the door by men in suits and huge smiles, offering welcome goodies from champagne to the chance to win a plethora of prizes (including the chance to win a years worth of shoes from OFFICE!). As the prizes were called out from generous corporate donations, the room filled with ‘oohs’, ‘ahs’ and gasps. The atmosphere soon became electric!

The grandeur didn’t stop from entrance to main hall – we knew we were in for quite the treat.

 great and tables

Within minutes the entire audience was captivated. With Denise Lewis guest speaking and Michael Thaxton entertaining the crowd, the wine and general good spirit flowed. We hardly noticed we were sat with complete strangers, who in the end all became friends after team games were introduced.

The show themes ricocheted from The Wild West to the swinging fifties and sixties – without a single nervous face. Women and men of all ages dominated the catwalk confidently, demanding grins and tapping feet from every single person in the room. As per usual (never the wall flower), the OFFICE Shoes presence was obvious. Glowing neon on the opening walk, our signature Ribbon heel adorned the majority of models feet receiveing cheers and applause for every proud step.

Model is Laura Owens – Read her blog and see how Breast Cancer care supported hermodel 1

model 2

It was at this point that the very sad news was announced. After many years of battle with cancer, Breast Cancer Care model Sally White, sadly lost her life to the disease the weekend before the show. She unfortunately was never able to fulfil her dream of being a model and partaking in the show. As a member of the audience the spirit and determination amongst the remaining models was felt by all.

Seeing our shoes on stage filled us with a huge sense of pride. It really hammered home the message that Breast Cancer Care Awareness month really is crucial in the development of the charity and the support it provides to all of those affected by this disease.

Throughout October we’re asking you, our brilliant customers, to get involved by investing in a pair of OFFICE Ribbon heels – where £40 of this £55 shoe will go directly to the charity. This money will go towards helping grow an already incredible organisation that rebuilds lives every day.

An amazing night of laughter, tears and shameless dancing  was enjoyed by all in honour of the late Sally White.
