London Fashion Week 2014 – Day 1

Friday, February 14th, 2014

Roses (noses) are red; violets (lips) are blue, matching the pastel pouts and rosy cheeks of the fashion elite on a blustery Valentines morning – it was clear that pastels and pinks were a rip-roaring success to kick of the 2014 London Fashion Week. Whilst we couldn’t have predicted sunnier skies, Office appears to have nailed the fashion forecast promising bright things for the upcoming range (we’re already excited!). As the heavens opened and the fashionistas battled with their brolleys, we were transported to a balmy summer’s day as the crowds braved the bitter weather.

Whether it was cotton candy or fondant fancy, pastel power reigned supreme and accessories looked good enough to eat from head to toe. Even the fashion foodies were whipping up sweet treats wearing psychedelic prints that could have easily been plucked of the catwalks at SS14.

Our faves from AW13 have been re-crafted in crayon colours for high summer, whilst paying attention to cult cut-out styles. Jazz up our ‘On Top’s with destroyed denim and a plain white tee to blag that blogger look, or covet cool Scandi style in our edgy new season ankle boots.

As the paps were snapping, you only had to look up to see chunky soles keeping the leggy London ladies towering above the rest. In buttery leather, buckled and heeled to perfection, OFFICE certainly isn’t giving this style the boot for high summer 14.

For those who chose comfort over couture, our Kilter slip ons were the go-to for those on the go! Paired with denim shorts and a retro rucksack, these fashion favourites are set to sprint into summer without a second thought.

So whether you’re kicking it in slip ons, styling it up in pointed courts or keeping it playful in tasty pastels, Office has high summer sorted. Watch this space.

See You in Courts

Friday, February 14th, 2014

Is there a more reliable shoe than the trusty court? Perfect for work and play, there are few women who don’t have a black pair of courts in their wardrobe somewhere and more likely than not, they’ve got a few pairs in different shades.

Courts, or ‘pumps’ as our American pals call them, are basically any shoe with a low cut front and are mostly slip-ons. They cover stilettos, ballet pumps and kitten heels and come in all sorts of colours and materials.  A quick look in our shoe cupboard and yeah, about 70% of them could be described as court shoes.

But while courts are now very much a wardrobe staple, they used to be the reserve of the wealthy and were among the most highly coveted shoes in Europe. They followed on from the extremely elaborate high heels favoured by rulers in Renaissance nations and became popular as they were easier to walk and even ride in, while still looking stylish.

Their popularity grew among the ruling classes, with French King Louis XIV, even demanding that no one should enter his court without wearing red high heels.

During the French revolution, court shoes feel out of favour and flat shoes were en vogue, but after a few decades, fashion conscious women across Europe resurrected the court shoe and they have remained popular to this day. We’re particularly grateful as we don’t know where we’d be without our faithful black courts, not to mention the other ten or so pairs…

Did you know?

Court shoes aren’t just for women. In the Regency period court shoes were popular among men and they are still worn in some formal situations. They are also known as opera slippers.

Famous court shoes

– The Duchess of Cambridge is a firm fan of court shoes and is rarely seen out of her favourite nude pair.

– Christian Louboutin designs arguably the most famous court shoes in the world. Victoria Beckham, Mila Kunis and Lady Gaga are all fans of his famous red-soled shoes.

OFFICE in the Press

Decisions, decisions; so many shoes and far too much choice! But, with a little help from some of our friends at various publications, they’ve helped us to narrow it down. Now, we just need to choose our favourites out of those…

Cosmopolitan have the Emerald Black velvet in their sights to glam up their goth look, or on the other hand, goth up their glam look!

getting ready for this year’s party season couldn’t be more fun. So, what are your options for all those Christmas parties? Glamour has opted to go with the Sentimental wedge in black suede and we couldn’t agree more!

For the day after the night before, the Break of Dawn mid heel is just the ticket to at least keep your feet in the party spirit!

Hmm.. we say flats over heels in Elle’s debate between the two. Especially if they are the Envy Me flat!

CELEB SPOT of the week… Lana Del Rey! She’s been spotted out in our black suede Kandi court. In fact she loves them so much she has them in white too from our SS12 collection!

They come in loads of other colours, so finding the right pair to suit your style couldn’t be easier!

We love Lana’s style and who can blame us? Especially when she has our Kick Ass Court and Deserter boot too!

OFFICE in the Press – Look Magazine

Friday, November 9th, 2012

One of our favourite publications has gone OFFICE mad – and who can blame them! We love what they’ve done with our shoes.

Look Mag are accessorising to the max with the OFFICE Denby boot in contrasting red and black leather. Pipped to be the must have winter accessory, the cowboy boot is the perfect way to add a little western style to your winter staples.

Kitten heels are huge news this season. Our dainty, Vital courts ooze old school glamour and sophistication. Coming in deep red moc-snake skin, that’s two trends nailed in one.

Glamming things up as we start to think about our Christmas party outfits (best to start planning these things WELL in advance we think…) Look have featured some of our fave festive styles for inspiration; think metallic silver studded boots, bejewelled toe cap slippers and gold beaded pumps. That’s the footwear sorted then, now just the dress…

OFFICE Celeb spot of the week is… FEARNE COTTON!

Looking positively radiant, queen of laid-back cool, Fearne Cotton matches her OFFICE Domino boots with a bowling bag in THE colour of the season, deep burgundy red. It really is that easy to update your favourite wardrobe staples for a stylish, new winter look!

Featuring the Black Mick Crocs, Kick Ass Courts and a selection of their favourite Office shoes of the moment…

The Grand National Black Tan Boot was used in a ‘how to’ on creating the best equestrian look for this season… It’s all in the boots.

For Autumn Winter these guys have got ‘Envy me’ on their wish list. Who can blame them!

This is London, This Office – Camden

Monday, July 23rd, 2012
Over the next four weeks we plan to take you on a tour of London the OFFICE way.
To do this we have enlisted the help of our amazing store staff in North, South,
East and West London to act as your very own style guides.

This is Office Camden - Simplicity Court
This is Office Camden - Mod Revival

This week the spotlight shines directly on our Camden branch North of the river.
Buckle up and strap yourself in, here we…

1. Sum up North London style in 5 words

Alternative, edgy, forward-thinking, street, confident’

2. What styles do you think are the ones to watch in Camden?

‘Recently the crowds pounding the streets of Camden Town have offered a nostalgic nod to one decade. Stacked platforms, ever higher wedges on both men and women, a rainbow of pastels, and a generous helping of studs are all subtle references to the Nineties, and Camden is leading the way on this big AW12 trend.’

3. What’s your favourite thing/place in North London?
‘A walk down Regents Canal on a sunny day, followed by a spot of people watching in one of the bars overlooking Camden Lock.’
