What to get Dad đź’™

Friday, June 16th, 2017

This coming Sunday is Father’s Day, whether you are spoiling your dad, or a heroic male figure in your life, it goes without saying some shoe spoils are most necessary. All men love shoes, and if they fail to admit it, they secretly do. Whether it is the classic boat shoe or a soft suede loafer, our collection of shoes covers all tastes. It can be quite tricky in choosing the right shoe, so we have compiled a few guidelines that could assist your decision making in giving Dad one of the best gifts:

The formal man: If your dad is always suited up, or refuses to own a round neck t-shirt, we always suggest Brogue or Penny Loafers. Ask the Missus and Poste offer a great selection of formal shoes, that use premium materials and on trend designs to give you the most perfect shoe. (Formal Spoil)

The handy-man: We know a lot of busy bee parents, especially when your Dad is always outdoors and conquering the home’s building tasks. Why not treat him to some classic Converse? Or Vans? Shoes that are durable, can be chucked in the washer and building friendly.

The hipster man: You might have the cool dad, the one who keeps a head of the trends and always makes the classics look good. We always advise a pair of Reeboks Club C. An item that has been on the scene for many years, and looks good on at any age.

Go on treat your Dad 💙

Choosing the right shoe for work

Wednesday, June 7th, 2017

Your office attire is very important, it needs to be practical, comfortable and stylish (obviously). We know choosing the right outfit is either a loved or feared task, however we feel with our selection of shoes , you’ll be owning this activity. Choosing the right office shoe (excuse the pun) is down to your work environment, is it smart, casual or always on the go?

We have some essential tips in choosing the right shoe:

  1. If you need height, or have opted for a great pair of culouttes, why not try some of our high studded mules? Easy to slide into and get your work day going (great for Summer too)
  2. Looking for a touch of height? Kitten heels are your go-to. The right amount of elevation, whilst remaining steady enough on your feet. We love these paired with a pair of skinny denims or wide flowing trousers. If you want to be a bit more adventurous,
  3. If you happen to be a busy bee, and have already read our guideline of wearing trainers, choosing a classic all white Converse is ideal for the workplace. Sleek and comfortable (suits almost any wardrobe choice).
  4. If you’re a flats kind of lady, why not try a classic loafer? Great with a suit, or tailored paired of denims.

We have officially started the Festival Season!

Wednesday, May 31st, 2017

We Are FSTVL is a 2016 UK Festival Award winning music festival. Office HQ made their way to the festival this past weekend, and despite the unwanted downpour, the weather did not stop anyone from enjoying this great music fest. The line up was not to be missed, with over 225 artists performing, this festival made sure festival goers enjoyed their bank holiday weekend in the best way possible. Famous performers such as Carl Cox, Armand Van Helden, Basement Jaxx, Wiley, Dizee Rascal, Giggs, Disciples, Gorgon City and Craig David Presents Ts5 were some of the many that made this event an electronic highlight. What trends did we notice? Converse and Vans throughout. Mini skirts, graphic tees and the occasional body suit. What’s our first festival tip of the season:

#1: Invest in a good rain mac that can fold easily into your bag and always use shoe protector.

How to choose the perfect date for Prom đź’•

Thursday, May 25th, 2017

The Prom clock is ticking, and we know how important it is to look your very best for this occasion. It is however, more important to feel great with your date, and when we mean date, we mean with your shoes ofcourse. We believe in starting with your shoes first and then planning your outfit to pair perfectly with your (shoe) date. We share some sound advice in how to choose the right date:

  • High heels: Some of us can rock these and some of us choose not too. We stock a great selection of high-heels, and we love these high styles in metallics, nudes or a statement colours. Your actual date would need to be your height in these heels or a touch taller would be great too (just saying). Paired with a long flowing dress or cute babydoll frock, make sure your heels shine throughout the evening.
  • Sparkle or not too sparkle: Embellished heels are great for Prom. They add a glitzy  statement to your look. We like to pair these heels with nude satin dresses or a LBD (little black dress). Choose sparkle if your outfit is minimal, and don’t be shy in making your shoe date known. Your actual date should be the accessory to the look, let the shoes be one of the main features alongside your gorgeous self.
  • Trainers: We are big fans of trainers making their debut at your Prom, whats not too like about this look? They are comfortable and will leave you being the last one on the dance floor. Thankfully, most trainers come in great nude hues and look great with your chosen dress. We like soft pink Vans or cream Converse Exclusives for your Prom look, and we have no doubt your actual date will be super impressed by your shoe choice.

How to wear your trainers to work

Wednesday, May 17th, 2017

Some people love it, some people despise it, but getting ready for work can be an interesting task. Your outfit is dependent on your working environment and your profession of course. Most companies are modernizing with fashion trends, and slowly embracing the trainer trend. Or is the working world becoming more accepting that the commute to work needs to be a comfortable and stylish? Either way, trainers are a must-have, and we love it when we see more of this trend during the week. There are some guidelines to follow when you are wishing to rock your kicks, and we have a few do’s and don’ts that will help you feel smart but cool at the same time.

The Do’s:

  • Invest in a trusted brand that you can wear throughout the week, shoes that wear well and maintains their shape
  • We like to suggest subtle coloured trainers for work, so muted tones or the classic black and white
  • Pair your trainers
  • with a great dress
  • Less is always more, so keep it minimal but still cool
  • Keep your trainers classic, leave statement pieces for the weekend unless your working environment allows for some jazzy footwork
  • If you do like colour, a touch of it can be seen on your trainers (accent colours can be formal)
  • Build your collection, and love your trainers
  • Trainers look great with a suit

The Don’ts:

  • Don’t be shy to rock this trend, it is comfortable and stylish, what more could you want?
  • Do not forget to tie your laces
  • Don’t let your trainers get grubby, trainer etiquette all the way

Hoodies under puffer jackets, long sleeves under t-shirts are all great ways of creating a stylish barrier against the cold. Footwear can also be a tricky one as the unpredictable weather means you want to be comfortable but still look your best. The solution for this?…Converse of course!

Check out who caught our eye and how they perfectly paired their Fashion Week “get-up” with a pair of their favourite Chucks!

Pastel tones were a huge hit last year and thankfully for those of us who have filled our wardrobes with all shades of nudes and pink, this trend isn’t going anywhere! Feminine features such as delicate embroidery and studs will be seen on ankle boots and flats this year. A lovely way to add some subtle detail to an outfit. Velvet will also continue to make huge impact this year creating a feel of luxury to those everyday outfits. Here’s a sneak peak of what to expect from us this year. Be ready, its going to be awesome!
