Style for the Bank Holiday – Rain or Shine

Wednesday, August 20th, 2014

With the bank holiday almost here, its time to start planning what to wear for the long weekend as quite a few of us will be packing an overnight holdall and jumping in the car to make the most out of the 3 days off.

Whether it is a city break abroad, a few days at the seaside or some countryside walking, we have selected some of our favourite ladies styles to have you covered, come rain or shine.

RAIN

When the weather gets a bit unpredictable, which lets face it happens quite a lot in the British Isles, we also need some emergency footwear in our suitcase.

If off to Wales for some country walks amongst the mountains, a pair of New Balance W373 will have you climbing trees and picking raspberries all day.

For the festival goers who are prepping for Reading, Leeds or SW4, a bright pair of Joules wellies are a must for some muddy trekking to the main stage.

City shopping and touristy days out call for a pair of timeless leather Converse All Stars or a chunky ankle boot like the Madison as both look pretty smart, are easy to wear with anything and will help keep your feet dry if there is an unexpected drizzle.

For sunny days sat on Brighton pier with a 99 ice cream, a classic pair of Vans Authentic are great as they come in so many summery colours and help you walk across the pebbly beach without hurting your feet and stay comfy and cool whilst walking through the lanes shopping till you drop.

For those of us who are lucky enough to jet set abroad to the likes of Rome, Paris or Amsterdam, some sandals and some trainers are a must to pop in your hand luggage. Lightweight and comfortable, the new Air Max Thea will have you exploring the city all day and some simple sandals like the Holla  or Hallie are great for lunches at the Louvre or dinner overlooking the Colosseum.

City Slicker

Monday, August 18th, 2014

Since the release of Wolf of Wall Street last year, the suited and booted city men have adopted the Jordan Belfort look and have taken a bit of ’80s style inspiration.

The streets of Bishopsgate and Bank have an added touch of Wall St glamour with city slickers pounding the pavements to and from work in some sharp tailoring. Long gone are the ill fitted suits, creased shirts and printed ties, with the working gentleman now taking a much more premium approach to his wardrobe.

Slim fit 3 piece suits, pocket squares and matching ties are the everyday norm, kept sleek and sophisticated with the slim Sean Chelsea Boot or slipper loafers like the Artistry and Aristocrat.

Pale, feminine colours that were popular in the ’80s, such as powder pink, baby blue and yellow are back in the form of contrast ties, pocket squares, socks and shirts.

When the days are a bit warmer or it gets a little heated in meeting, a pair of braces against a white shirt is the perfect boardroom attire. Keep it New York inspired with the Appraisal American Brogue and a double breasted navy suit.
