Party Season Flats

Tuesday, November 17th, 2015

Party Season is in full swing and to aid your feet going from event to event it’s time to invest in a pair of glam flats. Taking inspiration from the pioneers of smart casual dressing Olivia Palermo and Alexa Chung, add a metallic brogue or suede loafer to see you through the Christmas season.

If you’re not the kind of girl who’d wear a pointed stiletto or a skyscraper platform you can still be just as feminine and fabulous in a pair of our statement flats. Dress down a silk maxi with a pair of patent brogues like Amber Heard, our Result Points come in classic black or autumnal burgundy.

If you find it hard to make the transition from work wear to formal wear why not try a tailored evening suit and match with a pair of croc loafers like our Rita High Cut for understated elegance.

Metallic uppers are still very much on trend this year, smarten up jeans and polo with our Vibe Loafers in futuristic gun metal or elevate a plain jumpsuit with our nineties style Rave Monk Shoes.

For the refined ladies out there our dainty Royal Slippers in suede or our Limelight loafers look great with a full skirt and cashmere jumper.

For boyish charm opt for some hard wear like our Lex Side Zip in 70’s tan or Rumble Front Zip in glossy black.

Our selection should put you one step ahead of the party game this year.

Sneak Peak | AW15 Trend: Urban Warrior

Thursday, September 3rd, 2015

As hard as it is to let go of the summer, we are now starting to fully embrace Autumn and building on some new looks for the cooler months ahead.

Men’s fashion doesn’t change as regularly as women’s which makes it slightly easy for you guys but it is now time to put away the pastel shorts and vests and embrace some layers.

The first trend we are focusing on takes a lot of inspiration from urban streetwear and mixes it with some subtle tailoring for the perfect smart/casual balance. This trend is perfect for the guy who doesn’t have to go too smart to the office but can still look good if he is going for some impromptu drinks or dinner after work. Its the ultimate weekender look and will have you prepared for most occasions whilst looking effortlessly cool.

Think premium sneakers, desert boots and suede brogues as your footwear staples and make sure you have a pair or tapered black chinos, a good quality tee and a smart bomber jacket. The colour palette is dark with a lot of black, grey and navy blue, but add flashes of white or bright colour drench pieces to add a luxe touch. Fabrics are soft jersey, selvedge denim, cashmere and nylon with elements of leather and thick wool.

Oscar winner Natalie Portman looked like a little black swan in her Rodarte dress, that she matched with some cute black heels like our Pretty stiletto.

School Daze

Thursday, August 28th, 2014

With September around the corner and summer holidays coming to an end, it is the perfect excuse to get new shoes, accessories and stationary treats to show off at school.

We have taken some inspiration from classic TV shows and movies of the ’80s and ’90s that made school look like the coolest place to be.

Classics such as Saved by the Bell, Sweet Valley High and Clueless still manage to inspire fashion, with girls loving chunky t-bar flats, quilted ballerinas and the guys channelling their inner Zack Morris with varsity jackets and Nike Air Huarache’s.

Tomboys will love some Kickers brogues or Kennedy Lace Ups and can girl it up with some frilly or knee high socks and pleated skirt.

Showcase some Cher Horowitz style with a classic ballerina flat like the Karmen, or add a bit of height with the Gossip, both are sure to make you the most popular girl in school.

Bookworms will often be found in the library sporting some retro loafers like the Extravaganza and Volt Chain Slipper, but don’t underestimate the style of the ‘nerds’ as geek is most definitely chic.

City Slicker

Monday, August 18th, 2014

Since the release of Wolf of Wall Street last year, the suited and booted city men have adopted the Jordan Belfort look and have taken a bit of ’80s style inspiration.

The streets of Bishopsgate and Bank have an added touch of Wall St glamour with city slickers pounding the pavements to and from work in some sharp tailoring. Long gone are the ill fitted suits, creased shirts and printed ties, with the working gentleman now taking a much more premium approach to his wardrobe.

Slim fit 3 piece suits, pocket squares and matching ties are the everyday norm, kept sleek and sophisticated with the slim Sean Chelsea Boot or slipper loafers like the Artistry and Aristocrat.

Pale, feminine colours that were popular in the ’80s, such as powder pink, baby blue and yellow are back in the form of contrast ties, pocket squares, socks and shirts.

When the days are a bit warmer or it gets a little heated in meeting, a pair of braces against a white shirt is the perfect boardroom attire. Keep it New York inspired with the Appraisal American Brogue and a double breasted navy suit.

His & Hers Style

Monday, August 4th, 2014

Lately it would appear that the girls are borrowing from the boys a lot more and its not just grabbing his t-shirt or jumper every now and then, its taking style inspiration from his classic looks.

Traditionally men’s formal favourites consist of brogues, loafers and Chelsea boots and now the girls are getting in on the action and looking great doing it!

A classic retro brogue like the men’s Frankie or women’s Temperley looks great with a pair of dark indigo skinny jeans and a collarless granddad shirt, a simple outfit that suits both sexes.

The Mod favourite Chelsea boot is a firm favourite with the likes of Harry Styles and Alexa Chung and is pretty easy to wear in both summer and winter. Girls can rock  the Coolcat Chelsea with a pair of cut off shorts and loose vest or smarten up in a ’60s style shift dress. Men often wear a Chelsea boot like the Sean with a suit in the colder months as its simple and smart but paired with some slim fit black jeans and a simple white t-shirt they can channel their inner Mick Jagger.

The new men’s formal fave is the monk buckle like the hi shine Giovanni that is a sleek alternative to a lace up to match with suits for the office and the odd wedding. Girls can utilise this style a bit more as it looks good with most outfits. The Verity is quite a chunky option and fuses a bit of ’60s and ’90s in its silhouette.

A gentlemans casual classic is the driver like the Sydney, a timeless style that never looks out of place on the streets of Monaco and St Tropez. Men can use this style to smarten up some jeans and a shirt without pushing the boat out and girls can wear with dresses, ripped boyfriend jeans or summer shorts.

Be inspired by TV style icons

Thursday, October 10th, 2013

If you’re stumped about what to wear over the autumn/winter season look no further than your TV for some style inspiration.

There’s a host of great shows on the schedule over the coming months, with some rather dapper leading men. So you can be planning what you are wearing on nights out even on a rare night in front of the box…

On screen now…
Office (2)

Agents of Shield

If you need a new suit for the festive season, look no further than new sci-fi show Agents of Shield for inspiration. Agent Coulson’s sharp suit looks good even as he’s battling bad guys.

To get the look, stick to a crisp white shirt with a black or navy suit and a dark tie. Sunglasses optional.

Office 1Coming soon…

Dr Who

Matt Smith was arguably the first hipster Dr Who. He burst onto the scene with his trademark tweedy jacket, bowtie, boots and floppy hair, replacing the long coat and Converse trainers rocked by David Tennant.

The new Dr’s signature style got the thumbs up from Esquire magazine, which described it as a “cross between rookie geography teacher and Hoxton clubkid”.

Next month we’ll see Matt in action as Dr Who in the 50th anniversary special. If you want to copy his look, we suggest hunting around vintage shops for the perfect tweed jacket and pairing with some Ask the Missus Keaton Brogue Boots.

Keep your eyes peeled for…

The long-awaited next series of Sherlock is rumoured to be hitting our screens before winter is over and it’s likely there won’t be a deerstalker in sight.

Benedict Cumberbatch will however be rocking his character’s signature Belstaff coat, probably with a scarf, some leather gloves and his trademark brogues.

The exact coat is no longer available to buy, however, there is a wide range of long wool coats on the high street after Versace, Gucci and Prada sent them down the autumn/winter 2013 catwalks.
