The shoe trend that is dominating Spring fashion and a on the feet of every blogger and member of the fash pack has to be the ghillie lace up. We are going crazy for this feminine style and we are loving it in all forms, stilettos, pointed flats, chunky mids and summer ready sandals.
This flattering style is a great transitional shoe, taking you from your winter ankle boots into your summer sandals.
Wear your Odessasandals with some tailored, ankle grazer trousers, a logo t-shirt and a long kimono jacket for work or shopping days with the girls.
The chunky mid heel Wild Thing will look great with some acid wash mom jeans and a cropped shirt for casual evenings out and first dates.
For the ultimate stand-out ghillie style, then the Parisian or Popsiclestilettos are your going out wardrobe’s new bestie. Wear yours with a classic LBD or a nice co-ord suit set for weddings and days at the races.
Yesterday saw the end of London Fashion Week where the best of British design talent showcased their AW15 collections and the fash pack were out in full force giving us styling tips for the new season.
Despite the cold British weather, stylists, bloggers and journalists were dressed to impress as they hung out around Somerset House waiting for the next show to begin.
Sportswear was a big hit this year and everywhere you looked you could see the classic shell-toe adidas Superstar on men and women. Dressed up with tailored trousers and cocoon coats or dressed down with ripped boyfriend jeans and thick knitwear, the Superstar was a firm fashion favourite.
Points, slip-ons and mules were also dominating the style set this season and it seemed everyone was loving the retro 70s look, opting for camel coats, flares and paisley prints.
To coincide with the launch of LFW on Friday 20th we teamed up with Vans to host a VIP gifting event at the ME hotel, a stones throw from Somerset House and in the heart of all the action. In the evening we took key members of press, plus a load of competition winners to our first #OFFICEHOUSEPARTIESevent at the House of Vans London, find out more about the night here > http://bit.ly/1upyEjJ
On Friday 20th we had the pleasure of attending Jean Pierre Braganza in the main tent at Somerset House and we realised early on we wanted one of everything. Taking his inspiration from fighter jets and film noir the collection consisted of oversized tees, fur trimmed aviator jackets and wide legged slacks. We would wear this power vixen collection with our black Pitch Point mule, Naughty Thigh High boot or Precious shoe boot.
It was an early start on Sunday 22nd as we heading to the Institute of Contemporary Arts on The Mall to attend the Palmer // Harding show and presentation. Wearing our new Lance Monk shoe the models looked like Russian dolls in heavy wool coats, high neck shirts and embroidered dresses with their hair in milk-maid braids.
On Monday evening we attended the Hunter Original show at the Albert Embankment warehouse where Alasdhair Willis put on a visual masterpiece with models walking in amongst cascading water. Giving the feel of a wet British winter the models were wrapped up in thick outerwear, oversized trousers and of course the trusty waterproof rubber welly in many forms.
LFW definately went off with a bang and we cannot wait until next season.
Who better to give the bloggers of London a good wake up call to kick start LFW than blog superstar Bip Ling! Despite her New York jet lag the ever bopping Bip was on the DJ decks at 8am last Friday celebrating the start of LFW at an exclusive breakfast event hosted by Office and UGG Australia for the UK’s top bloggers.
A fashion connoisseur and frequent FROW’er, Bip loves London fashion week above any other as home to the most creative and exciting shows, where “everyone gets involved.”
For three seasons now Bip has also been a part of the UGG Australia Creative Council; featuring in seasonal campaigns and working with the brand at events such as #LFWBlogFest and Vogue Fashion Night Out. Bip has been a fan of UGG since sixth form, when she wore her classics every day, and continues to grow with the brand as the range expands into fashion and casual silhouettes.
In conversation with Victoria White of Company magazine who hosted the event trend talk, Bip was asked what makes a blogger successful. As a game changer in the blogging world, with her creativity and unique sense of style, she puts it down to personality. “When you show your personality brands become interested in working with you because you stand for something.” Take note budding bloggers…
After the event Bip nipped home for a moment to herself and a bit of “mooching in my UGG classics” before hitting the shows. Check the Office blog later this week for a round up of Bip’s fashion week experience, and choice of shoes to go with her enviable outfits!
Those in the know say that style comes from realising what is classic to you and your look, reinterpreting it each season to keep it fresh. UGG Australia are putting modern classics at the centre of things this season with the help from a collective of impressive individuals with innate sense of style and individuality, also known as the Creative Council. Here we introduce you to the different members of the Council and what makes them stand out amongst the crowd.
You may have already spotted her in the pages of Vogue, ELLE or Grazia showing her love for the Classics, the face of the S/S14 campaign is girl of the moment, Suki Waterhouse. With her arrestingly beautiful looks and cool factor, we can’t get enough of her! Alongside Suki is the most colourful girl on the catwalks – Chloe Norgaard, known in the industry for her rebel looks and carefree nature. These two darlings of the fashion world also happened to be top of the league in social media during London Fashion Week!
Introducing you to the UGG for Men range, emerging menswear designer winners Agi & Sam elected the footwear brand as the ideal partner for their most recent London Collections: Men show.
Equally creative, with added heaps of energy, is blogger & DJ, Bip Ling. For her whirlwind lifestyle she dons the Darling boot, a block heel style in soft suede for the girls out there who are equally unstoppable but like to keep their look slick.
Helping us to navigate the eternal question – how to dress for a British summer, stylist and fashion insider Natalie Hartley rounds up her choice pieces in the UGG SS14 collection to show us her classic looks. So make like Natalie and the rest of Creative Council; put together a look for yourself this season that celebrates what classic means to you – whether it’s a crisp white shirt with a Classic Mini, or a rolled up jean with the block heel Darling boot. You might just be looking at the definition of a modern classic!
Well it’s high time we had a bit of a catch up on how our Summer Holiday Competition winner got on in Miami. So here goes, sit tight and allow the wonderfully charismatic Camille to transport you to a sunnier climate with her candid tales;
“Surfing. Fantastically good fun, in the sea as on the net. Both ways, if you let yourself go completely, ride the wave with absolute freedom, you never know where you might end up. Tossed and buffeted every which way but loose… I love it, you never know where you might end up. Well, in my case, the wave took me to Miami. Woosh…There I am, my fingers expertly weaving me round the web, and next thing I know I am the winner of the most fabulous summer competition courtesy of Office, Look Magazine and Virgin Holidays.
Now I may as well tell you know, when it comes to travelling I am usually cursed. What am I saying, I AM cursed. This is no laughing matter. Family members generally refuse to travel on the same day/plane/train as me for fear of what may lie ahead. You name it, I’ve been through it. Unable to travel home for Christmas (Eurostar blocked in tunnel), stranded in JFK over new year’s eve (blizzard), stuck in Seville two days prior to finals (Volcano ashes – remember Eyjafjallajokull?)… Not this time though. I guess the cherry on the cake of this gorgeous prize was that there was not a single hitch. Not one (unless you count my being distraught at not having Will Smith as a welcome committee, melodiously rapping WELCOME TO MIAMI as I stepped off the plane). And when our driver dropped us off at the Mondrian, the coolest urban chic hotel I have ever had the pleasure of staying at, I knew the boy and I would be having the time of our lives!
The hotel was in fact so cool that we were tempted to spend all six days lounging by the pool, sipping cocktails and soaking up the (very hot) sun. Set in a stunning all black and white minimalistic décor, and located in South Beach, the Mondrian fulfilled all the clichés of what life in Miami is all about: flashy, fun and fabulous. Highlight of the week? The in-house all-day pool party complete with thumping house beats and magic mojitos.
I could go on about the hotel and it’s daylight nightlife, but let’s move on to the main event: food. When in Rome etc.. Why bother even making the 8 hour trip if one does not plan to indulge in a giant burger or two. Not to mention oversized pancakes with maple syrup, frothy milkshakes, waffles and whipped cream, french fries and nachos. Although I’m very much a ‘full English’ kinda girl, South Beach’s 11th Street Diner’s authentic fare floored me (in a good way) and set me out to sashay out into the city in my new biker boots. And while I was embracing all things US of A, I also dug out the hot-pants. Potentially the shortest piece of sartorialism I own, and perfect for the job at hand. Giving off a casual-meets-urban cool Florida vibe that is, not eating as much as possible. Being open 24/7 meant that we did make regular pit stops to the Art Déco dining car; we did not however confine our culinary exploration to all-American fast-food. Indeed, another great find was Sushi Samba, a restaurant offering a unique blend of Japanese, Brazilian and Peruvian cuisine and design. If you ever get a chance, you could also check out the News Café, a charming sidewalk coffee shop with complimentary newspapers and books available to browse while tucking-into your salmon bagel with cream cheese.
And at night? Pulsating house beats, intoxicating beverages, suggestive visuals… Miami’s latest super-club? Not quite. More like a pub crawl for art lovers. Once a month, dozens of Wynwood’s art galleries open their doors to the public for a festive ‘night walk’. If like us you are lucky enough to find yourselves in the city during one of these happenings I highly recommend you don’t give this one a miss. Street DJs keep the party going all night, and there is almost more colour-popping eye-candy on the exterior walls of the showrooms than there is on their (more conventional) interior ones. Fresh to death graffiti. My absolute fav … Ghetto, moi?
