OFFICE Muse’s: – Meet Fabienne

Thursday, January 8th, 2015

Let us introduce you to our OFFICE Muse, stylist, blogger, presenter and DJ extraordinaire Fabienne Hebrard.

This style savvy multi-talent is definitely an East London girl at heart, constantly rummaging through vintage shops and supporting up and coming designers to use for work or just to dress herself. With mermaid, My Little Pony locks, Fabienne is not afraid to take fashion risks and mixes bright colours with edgy, key pieces to create her unique style. She loves some statement metallic heels to wow the crowds at her gigs and can’t live without some chunky cleated sole ankle boots for everyday.

Check out Fabienne’s Muse page and how to get her look here.

During a break from shooting we caught up with Fabienne to hear what inspires her and get some style tips for 2015.

Who is your style muse? I love bad-ass women who ooze confidence like Juliette Lewis and Jennifer Lawrence – for me style is about personality as well as wearing something with a bit of an edge.

January is a tricky time of year style-wise, what are your top tips?

My top tips for January is to wear something that will be transeasonal. With the un-predictable weather, it’s best to invest in an ankle boot. It’s a classic style that can be dressed down or up and take you through different types of weather. Even an open toe can be worn with cute socks or tights when the weather is a little colder. Layering is key!

How does your work look differ from your down time look?

Even though I’m tall I do love heels, so I’ll often be in a wedge or cleated sole even in my down time. Although often when I’m running to different PRs for styling jobs, be it pulling clothes for a shoot, a DJ gig or  presenting job, I do love a good practical pair of trainers, plimsolls or ankle boots to get me around faster.

What do you new things do you invest in and one thing you can’t live without?

I can’t live without black boots. I have so many pairs and am forever buying new pairs! As I don’t want to wear them out but always seem to do so (dammit!).

When I invest in newness I like to go for something that will go with most of my wardrobe. Whether its black, white or a standout piece of footwear like metallic or holographic it needs to be hardwearing for all the different weathers we go through on a daily basis in London, particularly at this time of year.

Who and what inspires you in fashion? Street style inspires me everyday. When I’m out and about around where I live in Shoreditch and particularly during London Fashion Week, people really go all out and its nice to see a real mix of crazy and cool styles. I like mixing the two.

What magazines, blogs and people do you take inspiration from?

I subscribe to Dazed & Confused so if I don’t get a chance to buy a magazine I know that’s coming through my door and its my go-to for new talent in fashion & music. I love Tirade for their shoots, Nylon online and Hypetrack & Pinboard blog for music.

Do your friends inspire you? Yes, a few of my best friends have their own fashion label so its always nice to see what trends their looking to and designing around for the coming seasons. I’m inspired by all my friends confidence and drive in whatever they do.

How important is footwear when building your outfit?

Footwear is super important as I’ll often start an outfit based on my footwear and work the clothes around it as it is an important part of what look I’m going to channel that day.

What brands inspire you?

I’m really into supporting young British designers and try to represent that in my work – be it wearing it for a gig or using them to style. I’m in love with British brands Sera Ulgar, LulaLoop, Gemma Goldstone & An Original Leeroy for full on 90s vibes as well as LA brands like Tiger Mist and Aussie based brands such as Nixikillick & Discount Universe. I love vintage finds from Beyond Retro & LFF Boutique.

What are your style resolutions?

I’ve been investing more in key pieces rather than buying something that will only last a season so I want to continue that in 2015. That and my obsession with metallics!

OFFICE Muses: – Meet Natasha

Thursday, January 8th, 2015

Introducing our OFFICE Muse, Natasha Ndlovu, a blogger and model based in London.

Natasha’s blog showcases her personal tastes and thoughts on fashion, photography, beauty and travel, as well as sharing her experiences working in the fashion industry. Her personal style leans towards a classic look which often sees her mix designer brands with high street. She wears a lot of sharp tailored pieces contrasted with luxe fabrics and loves a black ankle boot. A fan of a simple monochrome look, she plays with accessories, shoes and make up to add pops of colour.

Check out Natasha’s Muse page and how to get her look here.

During a break from shooting we caught up with Natasha to find out who inspires her and what her style tips are for 2015.

Why is OFFICE the brand for you?

OFFICE for me is everything under one roof. From running shoes, to work shoes and party shoes, Office has something for every occasion, as well as a variety of brands to cater to everyone’s tastes. I shop mainly online as it’s convenient and allows me to multi-task without having to leave my desk.

What are your top picks to get you through January?

A pair of brogues because they can be dressed up or down and they are comfortable for getting around in all day, plus they keep your feet warm. Over the knee boots also work with any look and can transition from day-time to night-time.

January is a tricky time of year of new clothes, but its cold, what are your top tips?

A nice warm overcoat or jacket with a shearling lining does the trick. If you can find one that works during the day, as well as over an evening dress, then you are set. From there, it’s just a matter of keeping your toes warm with the right pair of heels.

What new things do you invest in and one thing you can’t live without?

I invest in shoes and bags mainly but seeing as I live in London where it’s cold most of the year, a good leather jacket and coat are also essential. For me, it will always be quality over quantity.

How often do you buy shoes?

I buy shoes once a month but when it tends to be a busy time of the year like Fashion Week, music festivals, I may shop for shoes more often because I like to wear something new to special events and places.

 Whose look inspires you?

Elena Permoniva’s style is inspiring because she mixes high end and high street looks very well.

Do you change your look to suit your shoes?

If I buy a new pair of shoes, then I will dress around that and make sure my outfit accommodates my shoes. For the most part I wear simple items of clothing which tend to go with almost any pair of shoes.

 Who is your style muse?

Vanessa Hong of The Haute Pursuit is my style muse. She keeps it simple and inexpensive but the results of her styling are just stunning.

Who and what inspires you in fashion?

I am inspired by blogs, tumblr and street style, as well as stylish prominent women in the industry.

What magazines, blogs, people do you follow?

Porter magazine is a favourite of mine. In terms of blogs, tuulavintage.com because she not only blogs about clothes but travels all over the world. As for people, I have find individuals on Instagram whose style inspires me on a daily basis.

 What brands inspire you?

Saint Laurent, Balmain and Chloe, to name a few, inspire me. They celebrate femininity but also empower women in how they present themselves to people.

 What are your style resolutions?

To wear more print and colour in the winter, not just monochrome. I also want to make more use of my hat collection because I tend to rely on my beanies too often.

Big Eyes Little Soles @ House of Vans

Tuesday, August 12th, 2014

Last Thursday evening, not only were we lucky enough to attend the House of Vans launch party but we had a special guest in tow, Dionne Hélène from the great blog Big Eyes Little Soles.

Check out Dionne’s review of the event and some of the amazing pictures she took on the night…

House of Vans LDN

“I don’t really know how to begin describing the experience I had on Thursday night. We were treated to some incredible music (Savages, Jagger & Juan Love, Roots Manuva, Toddla T, Dinosaur Jr, Public Enemy, Illum Sphere!!!) a great showcase of work from some brilliant artists ( Ben Drury, Louise Gray, – to mention a few) and most exciting of all an array of skating legends to spin us out (Steve Van Doren, Tony Alva, Christian Hosoi, – no big deal right!) as well as all of the youthful faces of the London skate scene testing out the freshly set concrete.

Vans have pulled off something truly unique, in what can only be described as a sick venue with mind-blowingly good stuff inside it. It transcends the typical venue for anything really. Based inside the Leake street tunnel under Waterloo station, Vans have transformed 30,000 feet of raw underground space into a cavernous multi-disciplinary skate orientated Aladdin’s cave. They have crafted the most aesthetically beautiful cement bowls and half-pipes, and runs, kitted it with a stage and two bars, a gallery space, a cinema and studio space as well as well-thought out areas for people to chill in. The most exciting thing about it all is that it is a real recreational space, that in my opinion has arrived at a time of need in London. It aims to be an educational space as well as a creative, cultural, and sportive environment. And if last night is anything to go by, I would say you are in for a really good time.

The #houseofvansldn will be open Wed-Sun for visitors (for more info click HERE) Stay locked for info about upcoming gigs and shows.

Seriously go. It’s fantastic!

Peace.”
