#LFWBlogFest with UGG Australia & Bip Ling

Tuesday, September 16th, 2014

Who better to give the bloggers of London a good wake up call to kick start LFW than blog superstar Bip Ling! Despite her New York jet lag the ever bopping Bip was on the DJ decks at 8am last Friday celebrating the start of LFW at an exclusive breakfast event hosted by Office and UGG Australia for the UK’s top bloggers.

A fashion connoisseur and frequent FROW’er, Bip loves London fashion week above any other as home to the most creative and exciting shows, where “everyone gets involved.”

For three seasons now Bip has also been a part of the UGG Australia Creative Council; featuring in seasonal campaigns and working with the brand at events such as #LFWBlogFest and Vogue Fashion Night Out. Bip has been a fan of UGG since sixth form, when she wore her classics every day, and continues to grow with the brand as the range expands into fashion and casual silhouettes.

In conversation with Victoria White of Company magazine who hosted the event trend talk, Bip was asked what makes a blogger successful. As a game changer in the blogging world, with her creativity and unique sense of style, she puts it down to personality. “When you show your personality brands become interested in working with you because you stand for something.” Take note budding bloggers…

After the event Bip nipped home for a moment to herself and a bit of “mooching in my UGG classics” before hitting the shows. Check the Office blog later this week for a round up of Bip’s fashion week experience, and choice of shoes to go with her enviable outfits!

Nine to Five

Monday, September 1st, 2014

With new season comes a time for a mega wardrobe refresh for work so you arrive back to the office looking your best. Say goodbye to bare legs and shoulders and welcome thick tights, structured blazers and chunky loafers.

The glam, power vixens of the office can match their pencil skirts and cigarette pants with sharp pointed stilettos, like the On Tops or t-bar Selina and a pale chiffon blouse.

For those who like a heel that’s not too high and a bit of premium detail, then the Solstice cut out heel or Ted Baker Moniirra court are just enough to pair with a simple shift dress or tapered trousers.

For the tomboys and girls on the go, chunky flats like the Vaccine monk buckle shoe or the classic Extravaganza loafer will have you running for a morning coffee with ease. Go ’90s style and wear with a girly pinafore or sport some androgynous styling with a grandad shirt, slim tailored trousers and a tux jacket.

Animal Instinct

Friday, August 15th, 2014

As we are coming out of summer and embracing autumnal colour palettes, its time to take a walk on the wild side and add a touch of animal print to your wardrobe.

Whether you like to go all out with some leopard print or keep it subtle with a flash of python or croc, animal print adds a rebellious streak to a simple outfit.

140714_blog

Traditional animal prints are perfectly matched with black and white as they stand out against mono tones and for those who like to keep things a bit more understated, a simple croc or python textured heel will give any outfit a premium feel.

Pointed stiletto heels like the Jewel or Galvanize can add a touch of glamour in the office with a crisp white shirt and black pencil skirt, or can easily dress up some ripped boyfriend jeans and oversized t-shirt.

A style to watch for AW14 is the platform heel, with silhouettes taking inspiration from the ’70s disco era. These chunky, block heels like the Strive and Siren pack a punch and with classic python and croc embossed leather uppers they have a vintage vibe that perfectly pairs with a structured skirt or girly dress.

Slip ons are here to stay for AW14 and the metallic snake embossed Kilter and zebra pony effect Kwik Step are easy to wear with jeans, dresses and smart tapered trousers.

Mens AW14 Style – How to Wear

Tuesday, August 12th, 2014

Lads, its time to start thinking new season as the colder weather is approaching faster than we think and it is a great excuse to have a bit of a wardrobe overhaul and dig out the layers and muted colours.

This season is all about the rugged gentleman, fusing tailoring with casual wear and adding oversized outerwear. Some of the recent grooming trends are sticking around with guys opting for short, back and sides and a bit more facial hair than usual, which will come in handy for the winter.

140812_MensAW14

Rugged styles like the Amuse Lace and the Alpaca Apron have that old American workwear style and look great matched with deep indigo turn up jeans, heavy knits and if you are feeling adventurous, a touch of double denim.

A popular formal style this season is the monk shoe and this also transcends into casual with the Access Double Monk which has a touch of wingtip detailing. Navy suede will feature heavily this autumn and will match with grey tweeds, brown hues and denim.

For formal occasions or if you fancy changing it up a bit in the office, the Artistry tassle loafer is best paired with a 3 piece suit for the Jordan Belfort’s of the world or worn with some nice tailored trousers and shirt for an evening in a nice city bar.

New Season Boots – How to Wear

Monday, August 11th, 2014

Ankle boots are one of the most transitional items in our wardrobe as we can wear them all year round, come rain or shine.

With so many new styles coming in ready for Autumn/Winter ’14, the OFFICE HQ girls cannot get enough and kindly modelled their favourite styles this month.

The cut-out boot trend is here to stay and the Understood boot has a rock edge with a black nubuck leather upper and studded toecap. Pair with a cute playsuit or smock dress, good for gigs.

The Chloe Strap boot is a classic everyday boot and its taupe suede upper looks great with jeans, denim shorts or a floral skirt in late summer.

Make a statement and go chunky with the Cuckoo Chelsea boot in black suede, match with tight leggings and oversized tee or grunge up a girly dress. This style is pretty versatile as you can rock it everyday or take it on a night out.

If you took a little inspiration from Dolly Parton at this years Glastonbury then the Western style Coen Stud ankle boot is definitely the way to go. With an slightly pointed almond shaped toe and low cut upper, it acts as a leg lengthener with a dress or skinny jeans.

London Fashion Week Roundup

Thursday, February 20th, 2014

AW14 Fashion week is over so, we’re taking  the opportunity to look back at what we’ve seen and been up to over the last week since it started.

To start with, when choosing a LFW outfit it’s important to look eye catching and absolutely fabulous – you never know where and who might ‘pap’ you after all! Here at HQ we gave you our top choices of footwear for the week that would get you noticed and keep you bang on trend. Otherwise known as our LFW Faves! Consisting of flatsbootsheels and brogues there’s something for everyone no matter your itinerary for the week. Brogues for rushing from show to show, boots for when the weather turned bad and the all important heel for the after show parties.

Some of our very own from HQ went down to Somerset House to do a spot of street style, style hunting. We were on the look out for show attendees in a pair of OFFICE shoes as well as celebs who happened to pass by. Pastels were a big theme and favourite along with the brogue in both heel and flat styles. Ultimately, everyone looked great! Some were a bit more alternative than others and some went for classic fashionista chic. The mix of people was amazing, which only added to the buzzing atmosphere.

Nina Nesbitt also gave us the opportunity to see LFW from the front row. Taking instagram snaps of her day at the shows, she later shared them with us so we could see what she got up to. Looking glamorous and beautiful as always  and dressed head to toe in ‘Joseph’ we saw her outfit that she wore to the show. We also got a couple sneak peeks of her at the shows on the front row, back home getting ready to go and a cheeky snap with designer Julian Macdonald. Thanks Nina! Looks like you had an amazing time, we are well and truly jealous!

February 2014 saw designers from all over flood to London for a week of glam clothes, starry celebs and raucous after parties. Now having drawn to a close we can be sure that AW14 is looking set to be anything other than dark and dreary. Going by the shows we’ve seen, we’ll be looking forward to rocking some faux fur, bright colours and bold all over prints when Autumn hits down.

What we loved about New York Fashion Week

Monday, February 17th, 2014

It may be all about London now, with designers models and fashionistas flocking to the shows in the UK capital this week. But what kind of fashion blog would we be if we didn’t spend a bit of time reflecting on all the amazing creations which were sent down the catwalks at New York Fashion Week just a few days ago?

We’ll start with the frankly amazing Marc by Marc Jacobs show which saw Brit designing talents Luella Bartley and Katie Hillier revealing their debut collection. The look was youthful, edgy, dynamic; in short everything we love and drew inspiration from sources as varied and eclectic as anime, race car driving and Wednesday Adams. As usual our eyes were firmly focused on the footwear and the stacked trainers did not disappoint.

Speaking of footwear, we spent much of last week drooling over Marchesa’s collaboration with shoe god Christian Louboutin. The futuristic heels almost threatened to overshadow the clothes, especially an intricate pair of red velvet lace-up wedges and some beautiful beaded evening shoes.

We also loved seeing Victoria Beckham’s line. Like Posh herself, the clothes were chic, classic and elegant. They were largely in her favourite shade; black, but there were splashes of red to liven up proceedings and one multi-coloured midi skirt we’ll definitely be searching for a high street version of.

As usual we could go on for hours about all the stunning designs we were wowed by at New York Fashion Week, but why not take a look for yourself at some of the highlights?

Trends to take from NYFW

If you want to inject some New York glamour into your wardrobe, here are a few key trends from NYFW.

1 – Glitter; metallics and sparkles as seen at Marc by Marc Jacobs and 3.1 Phillip Lim.

2 – Daring necklines; designers seemed to be competing to see how low they could go with plunging necklines. Invest in some double sided sticky tape pronto if you plan to embrace this trend.

3 – White; avoid messy foods in autumn/winter 14 as the hottest colour of the season is pure sparkling white.

Highlights from London Collections: Men

Wednesday, January 8th, 2014

This week has been all about the latest fashions for men, with a host of acclaimed designers showcasing their latest collections at the London Collections: Men shows. We take a look at some of the highlights:

Manbags

Any men out there jealous of their other half’s handbag will have been pleased to see manbags featuring prominently at Dalston-based designer JW Anderson’s show. And while the bucket-style bags may be a bit too fashion forward for most, surely they are a sign that more mainstream bags will be making their way onto the high street soon? Even Dermot O’Leary was seen checking out the bags at a Mulberry party.

Christopher Kane

Christopher Kane’s latest collection may be small, comprising just 18 looks, but it is certainly perfectly formed. Bright t-shirts and sweatshirts with DNA-style patterns in cobalt blue and tangerine orange, chunky knits and sleek tailoring were all well received by those lucky enough to get a sneak peak at the clothes, which were viewable by appointment only.

Hackett’s show

Hackett has to win the award for one of the most entertaining catwalk shows. A bellboy pushing a luggage trolley down the catwalk opened the show before the perfectly groomed models, carrying a series of bags and suitcases, made their way to the front.

The MAN show

The MAN show showcases rising stars in the fashion world and this year’s three carefully selected designers certainly didn’t disappoint. Alan Taylor’s collection featured fashion forward tailoring complete with over-sized coats and baggy trousers, while Bobby Abley’s designs were influenced by cartoons, with a dark edge. Finally Craig Green has garnered praise for his layered kaleidoscope-coloured clothes.

Celeb spotting

Famous faces have been out in force over the past few days. Kylie swung by the Dolce & Gabbana party while Tinie Tempah, David Gandy, Henry Holland and Nick Grimshaw have all been on the front rows of various shows and Hollywood A-lister Samuel L Jackson watched the Superdry catwalk show.
