Get the OFFICE Look for Summer; Part 1

Technicolour twins, Nicole and Danielle Kahlani, are a hair and make-up twosome making waves within the fashion industry with their individual style and unique sisterly bond.

Hair stylist Nicole works at the cult East London salon, Bleach (the salon that kicked off the dip-dye and experimental hair colouring) and Danielle is a make-up artist who credits 7 years of hard work and self-belief as the key to her success.

Here, they talk us through their steps to create two of our favourite hair and make-up looks from our High Summer look book shoot.

First up, a tutorial on how to recreate our Mermaid Manes look by Nicole.

Step 1
Spray your hair with water to make it damp.

Step 2
Sprits salt spray all over your hair and brush through. This will give your hair a straight-from-the-beach look and works especially well at giving fine hair a bit of body. I recommend the beauty cult favourite; Surf Spray from Bumble and Bumble.

Step 3

Starting from the back, take small sections of hair and twist downwards. Use thickening spray on each twist.

Step 4
Use a diffuser nozzle on your hairdryer, at medium speed and on the maximum heat. Once the hair is almost dry, switch between hot and cold air - this will stop the hair becoming frizzy.

Step 5

Finish the look by creating the waves using your straighteners. To do this, move your hand in a zig-zag pattern along sections of hair. The end result – a natural, low maintenance wave.

Festival Culture - Our Forecast

One of the most famous festivals to take place was the Woodstock festival of 1969. Also known as ‘Three days of peace and music’ the 2 day concert was initially planned as a ‘one off’ so four young chaps could invest their money to build a recording studio.

After finding a large, unused area that would home 50,000 revellers, the event attracted 500,000. Sex, drugs and rock and roll, the prolonged event caused uproar but huge media attention and has given the World festival culture.

The Black Boot

With the military and boyfriend trends still dominating the cat walks and a favourite for celebrities, the black boot is on our festival hit list.

We love the versatility of this staple, looking great with vibrant prints, teamed simply with a pretty, pastel dress or even layered with denim cut offs and a jumper as Diana Vickers sports.

OFFICE PICKS

Feelin’ Free

When the mud is nowhere to be seen, give your feet the freedom they deserve with sandals and flats. Cut out detailing and bold buckles are key this season so opt for a neutral colour like Heidi Range, and let your clothes do the talking. Works great with floral prints!

The Classic Essential

When we mention festivals we usually think of mud and that means ‘wellies’. Even super models like Kate Moss make staying in the mud chic. But don’t wait for the rain, as we’ve seen on the catwalk, festival styling this year means wellies are in. They’re perfect for light layering and great with shorts.

Plus, if the mud takes over, why not make a ‘Welly Henge’ like they do at Glastonbury with all of the abandoned wellies.

We’re Growing – OFFICE Launches In Germany

Just like proud parents, we’re excited to tell you that we’ve recently launched our first two stores in Germany. With a strong German following at our online store, we’ve been busy behind the scenes to bring the OFFICE brand overseas. And what a journey it has been.

Our first store to open, Oberhausen launched with goody bags and lots of prizes. We also had a nail technician from Impress doing free press on manicures and, courtesy of Vans, we also had a photo booth to snap the fun and mischief that the public got up to. After the success of the Oberhausen opening you’d think it was time for a bit of down time. Unfortunately no, as soon as the champagne had been popped we began working on the opening of our Dusseldorf store…

Packed with celebrities and music pumping from the DJ set, Dusseldorf opened with a bang. We also teamed up with a local dance group to create and perform a flashmob on Flinger Strasse’. Watch it on our Facebook page.

On Location – Teen Spirit Trend Shoot

Our summer magazine will be hitting stores in early May and for those of you that are waiting in anticipation, here’s a teaser. On location for our ‘Teen Spirit’ trend shoot, we ventured to The Master Shipwright’s House, South London.

This huge and beautiful location boasts 5 centuries of history and has been hugely popular with TV, fashion and celebrities including music videos for The Wanted, Florence and the Machine and is where Mario Testino shot his infamous images of Kate Moss. It’s also been used to film UK dramas ‘Luther’ and ‘Whitechapel’.

The house is full of rooms with stripped-down walls, quirky props and huge windows which gave amazing natural light, perfect for shooting. Nesting on the side of the Thames, and just seven minutes from London Bridge, it was hard to believe this building lived amongst the chaos of London.

The location also has lots of outdoor space with a charismatic hut sitting near the river. We loved the contrast of the dockyard and cityscape that sat behind it. And of course, all this space perfectly accommodated the shoot and the lovely food.

Summer is approaching and that means it’s time to revamp the wardrobe. The ever-glam Millie shows us how in three perfectly styled ensembles. The Made in Chelsea beauty polishes each look off with a pair of OFFICE heels, proving there’s only one shoe destination this season! COMPANY Magazine #RisingStars

Company magazine held their first ever Rising Stars Gig this week to introduce some of the best new UK music artists to a select audience and a couple of us OFFICE girls were lucky enough to get an invite.

The event showcased the talent of the endearing Nina Nesbitt, the instrumental Spice Girls of the 21^st Century ‘Fake Club’ and dubbed the sound of 2013 the alluring Arlissa. To close the evening was a DJ set of pop classics by ‘Sink The Pink’ which had everyone reminiscing on the dance floor to ‘old skool faves’.

Celebs such as Laura Whitmore and Gemma Cairney made an appearance, it was the place to be! The drinks were flowing courtesy of Echo Falls and Rekorderlig, served with snacks from Pop Chips. In-between performances, there was no shortage of things to do. With beauty stations from Rimmel and Colour Extreme Hair Art, we had our hair streaked with powder pink tips and made full use of the photo booth!

If all that wasn’t exciting enough, Nina Nesbitt wore a pair of OFFICE mid heels for her performance - The Feature in black. Complementing her ice blonde hair and eclectic vintage style perfectly, we’re predicting big things for the songstress (especially if she keeps wearing Office!).

Introducing new brand BucketFeet

BucketFeet Co-founders Aaron Firestein and Raaja Nemani first crossed paths in 2008 while volunteering with children in the slums of Argentina. Their mutual love of travel and creativity ensued and they soon came to the realization that art knows no boundaries and in 2011 they joined creative forces and set on this journey together in order to create a brand that would support artists worldwide by producing comfortable, high quality shoes as a medium to spread art.

The launch which includes art from five international artists perfectly encapsulates and expands BucketFeet’s ambition to bring wearable art to the world whilst delivering new and interesting shoes to the consumer.

BucketFeet are helping these up-and-coming artists by giving their art a way to travel near and far, a dream the brand was founded upon. These under-recognized regional talents, who may have otherwise remained local, now have the opportunity to bring their art to the masses thanks to co-founders Aaron Firestein and Raaja Nemani.

BucketFeet’s mission is to find a different artist to design every shoe. Talented artists get the global exposure they deserve, and consumers get original shoes that stand out. The company provides payment for the art upfront, as well as royalties for each pair sold. BucketFeet hopes to inspire both artist and consumer to be inspired by each other.
