How to Wear Knee Boots

Thursday, October 9th, 2014

The cold days have arrived just when we had got used to having lovely warm weather well into Autumn. However with cold weather comes lots of layers, cosy knits and an excuse to wear all types of boot.

We will always love the transitional ankle boot but this winter we are taking things to new heights with knee high and over the knee boots. Taking influence from the 70s, this stand out style come in many forms, such as the equestrian inspired riding boot, the buckled biker and the sumptuous suede thigh high.

This season is all about keeping warm and premium leather, soft suede and shearling lining will help keep those legs a little cosier this winter.

Make a style statement with the slouchy suede Nova thigh boot, great with high hemlines, thick jumper dresses and super skinny jeans.

Pair a classic riding boot like the cuffed All Out or polished Agent 2 with thick leggings and an oversized jumper. This smart boot never goes out of fashion and will take you through until next spring.

Channel a bit of Dolly Parton at Glasto and go for the Nevada fringe boot which looks cute worn with a prom style skirt and boyish sweatshirt.

Toughen up your everyday look with a biker like the Nifty buckle boot, wear with black skinnies, crisp, white shirt and this seasons must have blanket coat.

Monk shoes – How to Wear

Thursday, September 25th, 2014

Over the years. men’s formal footwear choices have stayed simple and slick, with most opting for a classic brogue, a chisel toe lace up or a slightly daring winkle-picker.

Recently guys are getting a little more daring with their choices and the favourite silhouette of the moment seems to be the monk shoe. This Wall St style became popular in the 80s with the Jordan Belforts of the world and with 80s formal fashion coming back around, its only right that the footwear should follow.

Premium monk shoes like the Poste Apparel and Giovanni are best paired with a 3 piece suit for the office or worn with smart trousers and a shirt/jumper for evenings out.

Slightly more casual styles like the Ask the Missus Hirst and Anarchy look good with dark wash denim, loose fitted tweed and thin knitwear.

Nine to Five

Monday, September 1st, 2014

With new season comes a time for a mega wardrobe refresh for work so you arrive back to the office looking your best. Say goodbye to bare legs and shoulders and welcome thick tights, structured blazers and chunky loafers.

The glam, power vixens of the office can match their pencil skirts and cigarette pants with sharp pointed stilettos, like the On Tops or t-bar Selina and a pale chiffon blouse.

For those who like a heel that’s not too high and a bit of premium detail, then the Solstice cut out heel or Ted Baker Moniirra court are just enough to pair with a simple shift dress or tapered trousers.

For the tomboys and girls on the go, chunky flats like the Vaccine monk buckle shoe or the classic Extravaganza loafer will have you running for a morning coffee with ease. Go ’90s style and wear with a girly pinafore or sport some androgynous styling with a grandad shirt, slim tailored trousers and a tux jacket.

Monochrome

Friday, August 29th, 2014

A transitional trend that seems to reappear season after season is the simple and stand-out head to toe monochrome. This ’60s inspired look has had a modern makeover with clothes and footwear staying minimal and sleek.

The bold shades of midnight black and stark white have a luxe look about them, whether they are worn solely as one colour or the two together. Footwear for AW14 has a lot of focus on texture which juxtaposes the minimal mono colour and is a subtle way of adding a premium feel to an effortless outfit.

This uncomplicated style will always be your friend as it suits all, can be worn all year round and lets face it we all have black and white in our wardrobes. A baggy white t-shirt can be easily dressed up with a structured mini skirt and fresh perforated leather Vans Classic Slip Ons or canvas Old Skools.

With clean leather boots like the Dioon Lace Up and Chelsea from Vagabond you can experiment with texture in your clothes by wearing heavy knit, gauzy/sheer panelling and lightweight jersey.

Wear a geometric patterned or striped shift dress with black opague tights and the Villain Three Part Point for a smart work-wear look or wear the same dress with Lycra leggings and the Holla Cross Strap sandals for casual weekend days.

New Season Boots – How to Wear

Monday, August 11th, 2014

Ankle boots are one of the most transitional items in our wardrobe as we can wear them all year round, come rain or shine.

With so many new styles coming in ready for Autumn/Winter ’14, the OFFICE HQ girls cannot get enough and kindly modelled their favourite styles this month.

The cut-out boot trend is here to stay and the Understood boot has a rock edge with a black nubuck leather upper and studded toecap. Pair with a cute playsuit or smock dress, good for gigs.

The Chloe Strap boot is a classic everyday boot and its taupe suede upper looks great with jeans, denim shorts or a floral skirt in late summer.

Make a statement and go chunky with the Cuckoo Chelsea boot in black suede, match with tight leggings and oversized tee or grunge up a girly dress. This style is pretty versatile as you can rock it everyday or take it on a night out.

If you took a little inspiration from Dolly Parton at this years Glastonbury then the Western style Coen Stud ankle boot is definitely the way to go. With an slightly pointed almond shaped toe and low cut upper, it acts as a leg lengthener with a dress or skinny jeans.

Men’s Leather Sandals – How to Wear

Friday, July 25th, 2014

Commonly seen as a fashion faux-pas the leather sandal has always appeared a bit feminine and uncool but this summer it has had a bit of a style revival.

The leather sandal was the usual footwear choice of our awkward dads in summer and more often than not paired with socks, the dreaded combo. They would crack them out on family holidays to everyone’s horror and since then the closest thing to a sandal a guy would put on his feet is a pair of Havaianas.

Recently men aren’t as afraid of a sandal, realising that it is the best way to stay cool in the summer and can be quite easy to style up or down.

The woven Nero slip on is a great smart choice sandal to match with some cotton twill chino shorts and shirt for those summer evening events.

For the guy who doesn’t want to be too adventurous, the Crixus sandal is a classic flip flop but with premium leather uppers and sole and is easy to wear with anything.

The trend-setters favourite is the slider or footbed like the Birkenstock Arizona 2 Strap or OFFICE Thong sandal. Dress down with jeans, a vest and a loose fitted plaid shirt or smarten up with some chinos and t-shirt.

Stan Smith Style

Thursday, July 10th, 2014

First released way back in 1965 in honour of American tennis pro Stan Smith, this classic adidas trainer has been making history on and off the court ever since. Staying true to its original shape it has a sleek and simple design with a full grain white leather upper and a pop of colour on the heel, traditionally fairway green.

After its revival last year, this humble retro sneaker has taken over, dominating sports luxe styling as its minimal design is easily dressed up or down. A recent firm favourite amongst girls, it is easy to wear with pretty much anything and long gone are the dirty Converse we don’t mind looking destroyed in favour of crisp white trainers.

Pair with black tapered trousers, a white collarless blouse and rose gold jewellery for a smart office look or some acid wash ankle grazing jeans for a slightly more casual style. They look great with a summer skater dress for summer BBQ’s and they graced many a  blogger’s feet alongside their Celine and Acne accessories at London Fashion Week.

The classic Stan Smith is a timeless trainer that is definitely back for good and an absolute must have in your wardrobe as it transcends seasons and time!

Our Metz Apron Chukka smartens it up slightly with a top stitched apron without losing the rugged aesthetic. Pair with indigo turn up jeans and a white t-shirt for the day or smart twill trousers and black t-shirt when hitting the bar.

4. A gentleman’s wardrobe is not complete without a loafer and our premium Lorenzo from Poste is a classic. Wear with socks and a suit for the office and wear without socks and jeans at the weekend.
