Timberland – As Seen On Celebs

Monday, October 13th, 2014

Timberland is fast becoming the brand of the moment and even celebs are getting in on the action this winter.

The Premium 6 inch worker boot has always been a Timberland trademark style and this season we cant seem to get enough of it with all the new colourways and OFFICE exclusives.

This 90’s staple first became a fashion statement when the likes of All Saints and Aaliyah rocked them with baggy parachute pants and tight crop tops but now the cool kids of 2014 are making them their new fave footwear.

Mega stars like Rihanna, Jay-Z and the Kardashians are frequently seen in the cool yet practical Timberland boot and even getting the kids in on the action with little Blue Ivy and North West wearing mini versions.

Wear a black mono pair like supermodel of the moment Cara Delevingne and pair with ripped skinny jeans, a warm jumper and leather biker jacket, for an easy to wear, off-duty look.

Glam it up like Khloe Kardashian with the OFFICE exclusive nutmeg gold pair and wear with some smart jeans and shirt for a dressed down dinner date.

Rihanna is the perfect Timberland girl as the style perfectly matches her urban wardrobe, dress like her with a pair of premium Authentic Shearling boots to keep cosy this winter.

Guys can get a bit of hip-hop inspiration from Jigga and Yeezy who like to wear their classic Premium 6 inch boot with baggy jeans and an oversized sweatshirt. As the boots are quite chunky, guys should stay away from pairing them with their old faithful skinny jeans and try a classic pair of 501’s.

Celebs do Fashion Week

Monday, September 8th, 2014

Fashion week frenzy is well and truly upon us and we are loving the celebs gracing the streets and FROW’s. Be inspired by Cara and Poppy Delevingne who are always ones to watch during fashion month. Their smart, tomboy-esque ensembles are easy to translate and can be dressed up with heels or mannish boots. Another fashion muse to watch is Langley Fox Hemingway. We love how she’s teamed her utilitarian jumpsuit with some glam ankle boots, creating a unique look worthy of any front row.

Style Icons – Who Inspires The OFFICE HQ Men

Friday, July 4th, 2014

It has become apparent  in recent years that men’s style is slightly overtaking the females with you lovely gentleman really pulling it out the bag with on point head to toe looks. We know from chatting to the men of OFFICE HQ that they all have a bit of a man style crush so we asked a few to nominate the famous faces that inspire their everyday wardrobe.

The Artist: – Tinie Tempah is the urban cool kid who can rock a pair of classic trainers and a snap-back but also embraces his inner geek when dressing up for formal events. His style is unique and he isn’t afraid to take a few surprising risks with colour and silhouette, he loves a bit of print and is our modern Fresh Prince.

Mr Timeless: -The one and only Mr David Beckham, it is fair to say that he has had a few bizarre fashion choices over the years but I mean who hasn’t, the late 90’s and early Noughties were a bit of a fashion blur for us all. Long gone are the curtains and sarongs and like a fine wine Becks has just got even better with age. His style is effortless and whether he is dressed up or down his wardrobe never disappoints, a fan of a 3 piece suit and some dark wash jeans with boots.

blog-men_icons

The Rebel: – The icon and movie star taken before his time is the original rebel James Dean. He only ever made 4 films and died aged 24 which is surprising considering the impact he had as both an actor and a style icon. His classic style was a white t-shirt, jeans and Converse with a black leather jacket thrown on for good measure, this look is timeless and guys will always look great in the simple look.

Mr Show Off: – Self titled Lord Disick, Scott was swallowed up in the Kardashian machine and always see as a bit of a villain yet guys cant help but love this arrogant Patrick Bateman lookalike. He is definitely the sharpest dressed in the list and since the release of The Wolf of Wall Street, the slick back 80’s style is slowly gracing the pavements of St Paul’s and Bishopsgate. With flashes of pastel here and there, this polished smart shoe wearing guy is not afraid of sporting some pink and tying a jumper round his neck. Who cares if he doesn’t own a yacht, fake it until you make it. All hail Lord Disick!

Heartbreak Kid:- The man that since Drive even men crush on as much as women, the ultimate heart breaker Ryan Gosling. His mysterious ‘I don’t care’ attitude just makes him cooler and his appearance in Drive made men suddenly crave a satin baseball jacket with an embroidered Scorpion on the back, who knew! This guy often dresses down day to day in loose t-shirts, battered jeans and woven loafers but he knows how to pull it out the bag for an occasion and makes sure he is polished head to toe.

The Chameleon: – He is talented, he is beyond cool and he is one of ours, Idris Elba or Luther as we have come to know and love. He is mostly spotted at awards ceremony’s in a crisp Tom Ford suit but Idris also oozes urban appeal when dressed down, plus he is a DJ and his name is Big Driis, legend!

Trendsetter: – We have watched Alex Turner’s style transform from grungy teenager to Dapper Dan in the last few years. His new found retro rockabilly edge with his slimmed downed 60’s suits and stacked brogues are a brave choice for most but this shy musician is steps ahead already as this alternative style will dominate AW14.

Festival footwear icons

Thursday, April 17th, 2014

blogblogblog

The Ferris wheel and palm trees of Coachella have officially kicked off the festival season in style. Celebrities descended on Palm Springs looking every inch the festi pros with their statement sandals and rock ‘n’ roll-inspired looks. Follow our favourite fashion acts and see how they headline their footwear.

Kate Moss
Three words sum up supermodel Kate Moss’s festival style: Rock Chick Extraordinaire. She single-handedly started the denim cut-off and wellie boot combo in 2005 that’s now become a festival-goer uniform. Kate’s always been faithful to her Hunter boots – no fancy colourways or prints, just dark neutrals. If the weather doesn’t require rubber soles, work her look with strappy gladiators. Stick to black leather for extra edge.

katemoss

Rihanna
RiRi’s backstage gear is a departure from her risqué stage outfits. She still rocks high-octane separates and accessories but pares down pieces with beanie hats and leather trainers for a streetwear vibe. Channel off-duty Rihanna with Vans skater shoes. If you’d rather flaunt your toes, get a statement pedicure and be inspired by RiRi’s gold bling with a pair of glossy metallic sandals to decorate your feet.

Rita Ora
Rita doesn’t shy away from bold colour, whether she’s on stage or band spectating. Toughen up a chic dress with a pair of heavy boots, just as she did with her sunset-inspired Stella McCartney dress last year at Glastonbury. Switch from classic black to patent blue Dr. Martens to tap into Rita’s rainbow style. And never miss a festival act with a pair of Nike runners – the brighter the better.

Jourdan Dunn
Off-duty models have been nailing the normcore trend for years – think low-key, everyday fashion made fabulous by the person wearing them. Jourdan Dunn flaunts her endless pins to the max in teeny cut-off shorts and high-tops. Achieve the same effect with Converse classics and choose a bright colour to swerve mud splashes. For a more feminine vibe, try matching staple denim shorts to your footwear with Toms’ crochet slip-ons.

jouran

Harry Styles
Keith Richards seems to be Harry’s style muse right now and that means lots of black, super-skinny trousers, and head scarves. Style yourself like Styles by steering clear of crisp white trainers in favour of stripped-back black and minimal branding. For something smarter, try a suede Chelsea boot – still just as comfy for sprinting away from groupies.

90s fashion inspired by Elmo

Friday, January 31st, 2014

We read somewhere recently that it was Elmo from Sesame Street’s birthday next week. Perhaps it came to us in some sort of nostalgic dream or the little guy is actually turning a year older. From a brief look on Google it seems he would be older than most of us. Yup, our little red furry friend is in his forties! What a trooper.

Many of us here used to tune in to Sesame Street straight after nursery school without fail. There were very important things that had to be taken care of before viewing commenced though;

1. sandwich made expertly by my Mummy, crusts off of course. (jam or crisp filled were personal faves)

2. Plastic cup of squash in hand

3. Chocolate biscuit for after (Breakaway’s or Blue Ribbons only please)

Three magic steps and the nations childern were ready to tune in for an hour of pure bliss, usually followed by a nap. Man we wish I could go back to that for a day!

Ok, before you think We’ve completely lost the plot, it really did get us here at HQ thinking about how fashion has come right back around. Bold trainers, high waisted jeans, leggings and cropped tees are the reserve of the most fashion focused girls.

Here’s our Sesame Street fashion inspiration that you can wear now…

On Top Feature

Tuesday, January 14th, 2014

Have you seen Grazia today? One of our favourite styles ‘On Top’ has a whole page all to itself! We love the vibrancy of these new prints so we thought we’d ask Rebecca from our design team how she is going to wear hers;

“There’s a lot of animal print around for Spring/Summer, but what we love about this version of our favourite On Top style, is the unexpected bright colours and graphic print. I’ll be wearing these statement shoes with boyfriend jeans and a grey marl t-shirt to really make them pop, but equally they wouldn’t look out of place on a beach in Miami.”

Thanks for the style tips Rebecca! Miami might have to wait after our Christmas spending but I think paired with boyfriend jeans we’ll be on to a winner.

Fashion’s love affair with (faux) fur

Friday, November 22nd, 2013

Advances in technology has meant that faux fur has come an extremely long way since its inception. Modern day fake fur is just as luxurious and glamorous to the touch as it’s animal inspiration, meaning we can all get swaddled up in lashings of cosy faux fur without harming any of our fury friends. It also means we can be experimental with colour and pattern too which has changed the face of fur forever.

Always viewed as an exuberant and expensive accessory, fur often formed the centre piece of many the Screen Siren’s wardrobe. Take fur lover Marilyn Monroe for example, who often braved the chill at premieres in a strapless dress and fluffy wrap. Ok, her coats were most certainly real, but there’s so many amazing synthetic options out there today that would give Miss Monroe a run for her money. Another example of how fur added an air of glamour back in the day is with the amazing costumes of the ladies in the HBO TV series Boardwalk Empire. We find it hard not to swoon over their dramatic fur coats and statement stoles.

Unlike the roaring 20’s fur is no longer reserved for formal occasions. Kate Moss is our bohemian muse donning her cosy coat with a simple pair of black skinnys.

Paris Fashion Vuitton

Wrapping up in a thick faux fur coat is definitely the warmest way to wear the trend and there’s a whole host of stylish outwear on the high street, from full length coats to cropped jackets. Brown, black or mink-like neutral shades will go with anything in your wardrobe, but we love the brightly coloured Meadham Kirchhoff for Topshop Mongolian fur stoles that hit down in their stores this week.

As we love our footwear, we like to double up on the fur action. Cosy shearling lined boots like these Ariel Back Zip Boots  mean that you can be extra warm from the feet up too.

How to wear pencil skirts

Thursday, November 21st, 2013

Pencil skirts have made the transition from summer to winter, with everyone from Kim Kardashian and Miley Cyrus to Miranda Kerr rocking the super-tight skirts in recent weeks.

If you want to get a few more months’ wear out of your pencil skirts, here are our favourite ways of styling them.

Directional prints

Pencil skirts take their inspiration from the feminine silhouettes of the 1950s, but the modern day version packs an exciting punch with the addition of graphic prints to bring this figure hugging form to life.

Why not make a statement with this season’s hottest tartan and floral prints? Not only are prints a great way to add interest, they bring a welcome splash of colour to dreary winter wardrobes.

Jaguar F-Type Reveal Party - California

 Top of the crops

For a night out on the town we like to pair our pencil skirts with a crop top for a look that is bang on trend. High-waisted skirts are particularly good for this. It’s sometimes nice to leave a couple of inches between the skirt and top to help define the form too.

A loose cropped t-shirt can also work well with a pencil skirt. Pair with some high-heeled ankle boots like this pair from Poste Mistress and a chunky chain necklace for a more edgy look.

Kanye West-Michelle Obama

Dress down with a slouchy jumper

The statement sweaters which are huge this autumn/winter are perfect paired with a pencil skirt for a casual, relaxed look.

Team with some woolly tights, these buckle detail black boots and an oversized scarf.

Embrace the midi

Pencil skirts come in all different lengths, but this autumn/winter, it’s definitely all about the midi. We love the Burberry Lace detailed version for SS14, perfection in a pencil which can be cosied up for these colder months.

All that’s glittering this Autumn/Winter

Tuesday, November 12th, 2013

The bigger the better should be your motto when it comes to jewellery over the coming months, with designers sending models down the Autumn/Winter 13 catwalks bedecked in statement necklaces, rings, earrings and bracelets. The pieces we’ll be rocking this winter aren’t just accessories, they’re the centrepieces of our ensembles. Just add a LBD or plain top and jeans to any of the below and you’ll be ready to go.

Chunky chains

If you’ve kept hold of those chunky gold chains you rocked in the 90’s, now is the time to get them out. Chanel sent its models down the Autumn/Winter catwalks with thick gold, silver and gunmetal chains adorning their necks and wrists and since then everyone from Rita Ora to Lily Collins and Rihanna have been seen embracing the trend.

Germany The Mortal Instruments City of Bones

Chandelier earrings

Chandelier earrings were a hot favourite at Autumn/Winter 13 fashion weeks, with Balmain’s fun 80’s inspired plastic pendant style earrings catching many people’s eyes. Ralph Lauren put a more elegant slant on the trend, sending models down the runway in Baroque style chandelier earrings glittering with gemstones.

Balmain Catwalk - Paris Fashion Week

Statement crosses

Cross necklaces are another 90’s throwback which are making a repeat appearance this season. Dolce & Gabbana embraced oversized Byzantine crosses, featuring them on necklaces, earrings and belts, while Anna Sui teamed her colourful crosses with long beaded chains.

Dolce & Gabbana Catwalk - Milan Fashion Week

Oversized brooches

Brooches are back and if you don’t have any yourself, you’re sure to find some hiding in your mum or Gran’s jewellery box. Emanuel Ungaro used over-sized, diamante brooches in his Autumn/Winter collection while Robert Cavalli teamed eagle-shaped brooches with slick white shirts and chain mail skirts. If you don’t fancy creating pin holes in your clothes, why not try wearing a brooch as a statement hair accessory?
